FFXII Rumble?

If a rumble were started, how many people would post in it? I have a good period without much work commitment right now, and would be happy to run and organise one, with the relevant mod support, etc. Of course, there wouldn’t be much point if no-one was interested, and FFXII is a relatively new game, etc. so it might not recieve as many posts as the FFX/IX/General rumbles going on at the moment.

So basically, if you would be interested in helping set-up and posting in a rumble for FFXII, and would do it on at least a semi-regular basis, please mention it in this thread. If there’s enough interest, we can hopefully get one started by the weekend.

I’ll participate, for sure, FFXII being one of the few games I’ve actually played all the way through.

I don’t usually but I’ll join in this one to boost numbers. I think you’re right in that quite a few rumble regulars haven’t played this one.

Having not played in months, I am starting to get just a bit rusty on the game, but would definitely participate as much as possible. And would allow it as well as it’s reasonably well set-up / managed by someone who’s going to update it reasonably. I don’t want to see any more rumbles that are only updated once a week or less.

Yeah, we can start pretty soon, as there seems to be a decent amount of interest. I think characters would have to be the obvious starting point. We’ll do weapons/bosses/Espers after that.

So we’re looking for 16 (?) or maybe 32 characters. I think 16 would be better to be honest, can’t even think of 32 off the top of my head.

That’s 20 that I can think of. If we can find 12 more, we could do a rumble with 32, if not, we’ll have to eliminate some of those I’ve mentioned to get it down to 16, or do a ‘second chance’ for those who do get knocked out in round 1.

Hrm. I’m not sure I can think of many or any other ones of any particular significance. I think it would probably be better to knock out some of the less interesting ones, or do that second chance. But let’s see what others think first…

He was a bit of a rubbish character, but Reks isn’t on your list.

I guess we could add Reks too. If we had 24, we could do 12 through automatically, then a three-round play-off to determine the other four finalists. At present, the best way I can think of doing it is ten through automatically, then five through via one round of play-offs and I’ll choose the last finalist.

What about adding in some of the clan members, or another moogle or two?

OK, we can use Clan Members, and I’ve also decided to include allies who fight alongside you temporarily in hunts.

Edit: Add Emperor Gramis and you’ve got 32. Whether we really want to go for 32 as opposed to 16 is now the question, especially as some of these characters are non-playable and have minimal dialogue.

I’m still thinking sixteen. Why battle a bunch of characters that are probably not going to last past the first round anyway? We could still have a minor characters / NPC edition later.

OK, but that means we’d have to decide on 16 from the list we have.

Those are the characters with most relevance to the plot and sidequests I feel. We could then do a seperate rumble for the other 16 ‘minor’ characters. It’s this, or all 32 for me, I think.

How about bosses? Or even Marks?

I don’t think Migelo is a particularly important character. Migelo was only really there as a parental figure for Vaan and his plot importance dwindles significantly after the first hour or so. I would say the Occurian Gerun, Judge Bergan and Marquis Ondor are all more important to the plot then he is.

Yeah, I forgot about Ondore. I guess I could put him in instead of Migelo.

Hopefully I’ll be starting this by Saturday, so if anyone else wants to suggest characters, do it by then.

Uhh…Ba’Gamnan?

I think I’ll probably leave Ba’Gamnan off the list since he only appears in one mandatory scene. But I will consider him for the minor characters rumble.
