After He-Man and She-ra, there was Bravestarr and let me tell you that it was a show that kept me coming back to the TV, something Transformers, G.I. Joe and the aforementioned man and woman in thongs couldn’t do.

It was set in the 22nd century in New Texas which, surprise surprise, looks like the set for an old Western film. Anyway, New Texas was pretty rich in a certain natural resource so everyone was always beating the crap out of each other for it.

The main character was this Indian (oh I’m sorry, I meant Native American) sheriff that protected the planet, using his shaman-like powers, which were only four: earing of a wolf, sight of an eagle, strength of a bear and the speed of a puma. Thing is, the best thing wasn’t this guy, it was his sidekick that is probably one of the best characters of all times.

It was a robotic horse that talked and carried around a laser cannon that ot used to wipe the floor with the bad guys. It could also transform into a quadruped or stand on both hind hoofs.

The main villain was called Tex Hex, which is another touch of brilliance on a show that had me enraptured.

I recently (today, in fact) acquired several episodes and urge you to do the same. What an awesome show it was. Of course, I could only think so highly of it because I was 5, maybe 6 back then, which, come to think of it, is probably the reason, but watch it all the same.
