I’m a different man when I battle on Final Fantasy. In fact, rpgs in general. When I battle I zone out and come up with all kinds of sick strategies and combos… But I can’t ever remember what I do outside of the game. =\ But put me in front of the game, and give me some time with it. Anyone else like this or am I alone?

You’re probably not alone, though it takes some doing not to remember what you did whilst playing Final Fantasy. It’s not THAT absorbing. Combo’s though? What the hell constitutes to a ‘combo’ in Final Fantasy?

I go into a mode of abstraction where I dont care about anything else… and I try really wierd stuff. I cast buffs on the enemy to keep them alive while I level my skills, and just try to think outside the box for the most part. And spamming techniqes like mental break and armor break + mage will constitute a simple combo… but that’s just me. I look at battles in segments, not as a whole. Also, FFX-2 has the best thief.

I think the thing I lack at most in an RPG is strategy. Although I have beaten the final boss for most of the Final Fantasy games I have played, I only really use attacks (physical or magical) and healing spells (almost never use items). I never end up using things that raise stats during the battle or things like that because I think it would take up time.

But outside Final Fantasy, like when playing card games, I am always the worst at it. Maybe using strategy in final fantasy will only enhance the joy you get out of winning a battle.
