and i saw a message that said "Your IP Address (135 blah blah blah) is being reported for fraudulent behavior" or whatever.
-_- These morons dont know I own my discs, so just letting you guys know.
Delete or do w/e with this information.
I saw that message on the main site where you put your code in to recieve the download.
Even if this goes far into the legal system and proved not guilty (Thanks to me still having my bought CD’s), People still look at you as being guilty and thus label you as a criminal despite you obviously being innocent (Ex. Finding jobs)
Nice place.
your ip is recorded there too.
your ip is recorded everywhere.
it doesn’t mean anything.
So did alot of other websites I’ve downloaded from… and guess what… They did nothing!
Plus think about it… If they know the file is illegal, why don’t they just delete it? Are they not committing a crime too by holding on to it with their server?
It seems that more and more sites are starting to crack down on people. Well, just for a quick reference here’s a link to my site. You can check it out:
www.angelfire.com/goth/yohasakura
I keep a lot of Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts stuff on there that I have from my CD’s and all, and well I update regularly.

I know they are just doing their job but alot of people do what I do. They cant report everyone who downloads something just because it has a CD title or whatever. I always back my files up on FileFactory.
I’m done with them. Im never downloading from them again. Sons a bitches…
btw nice site.
But you also need to think of this logically. How often do you hear people getting a lawsuit filed against them? I can think of only a few major ones. Statistics state that many people do download music illegally, but those are only statistics.
Secondly, they look primarily for big name record companies (Who are really the ones that complain a lot about this). I don’t think anyone’s going to give a damn about video game music (which is in general VERY hard to find cheap and legally).
Thirdly, It’s more an automated message, it’s not like they’re personally sending you the message. A lot of sites like that do that nowadays if they find so much as a .mp3 in any file name.
I say don’t worry about it unless they send you a cease and desist. Then I would start to worry a bit.
Nice place.
Winter Park’s great.
and i saw a message that said "Your IP Address (135 blah blah blah) is being reported for fraudulent behavior" or whatever.[…]
Did you ever consider that the message might’ve been stated in the context of doing something unacceptable as far as the site’s own rules or terms of service are concerned? For example, you could be using a download manager to open multiple http sessions for the same file (usually called "accelerated download") or employing a firewall or browser that distorts the referrer information or something else along those lines. Just giving an alternative explanation here…

I never post here but I just had to say something to you.
Do you think File Factory knows you ripped the CD to transfer it to another computer? It’s not like you told them in advance, is it? For all they know, you uploaded an illegal CD rip for other people to download.
Yet – I haven’t got this message. The only thing which happened was files to get deleted because of the 1-week-since-last-download-term, but I knew this before I joined FileFactory.
In your case, it must’ve been bad luck. *shrug*
The point of my post: don’t worry about it.
And XZero’s right. It could even be a wardriver downloading from your account on there that you uploaded stuff on. Don’t let it bug you. They’re just being jerks. That’s what the RICA is all about.
