Back from the dead to talk about magic?

I just happened to be replaying final fantasy VI and I was doing this battle of Edgar, Terra, and Locke against two magitek armor mechs near the beginning of the game.

The battle started immediately with me trying to cast cure on Locke because he was weakened and then one of the magitek armors doing a magitek laser to Locke and killing him.

Then when Terra did cure it went into this small in battle cutscene where Locke and Edgar are talking about how Terra can use magic. But since Locke was dead he just got up all of a sudden and when the talking ended he fell back on the ground laying motionless.

I just thought it was a funny little thing of how he defied the laws of death.
Maybe they never actually die, maybe they just lay down if they have taken too much damage.

Haha. Yeah, that’s actually happened to me before. Hey, cutscenes have to happen, people :p

This just bleeds into the whole Aeris thing. Are the characters just passed out, or are they dead and then resurrected. I like how Pokemon skirts it. Okay, yeah maybe it’s because part of the audience is kids that they say faint instead of die, but this is a pretty good example of why its probably really Faint in ALL such games.

I was always bothered by the fact that Terra has been using Magic since you get out of Narshe and Locke never bothered to comment until THAT MOMENT.

No one dies. The characters are just in KO (Knocked Out). Kind of funny indeed. How can you be Knocked Out with a laser beam :/

well, the laser beam beams the shit out of you, you fall to the ground, and your hp reaches zero, dumbass. its like that in EVERY game (with hit points)

I always got pissed off in the later games (except XII) where the reviving spell was called Life. Why call it Life if your characters aren’t dead? Why did NO ONE use life to resurrect Aeris?

or the fact after battle they end up with one hp
