Skunk Anansie

Does anyone like this amazing band? It’s such a strange mix of rock, metal, classical and soul. The lead singer, Skin, has an amazing voice, even though she looks scary as hell. They had a couple of huge hits a couple of years back, but the band broke up in 2001.

They were on Sevendust’s CD, Home, I think, so yeah I like ’em.

They used to be pretty big around here, so I’d catch a lot of their songs on the radio or tv but never found them particularly appealing.

Didn’t Skin go solo for a while, or had another project after SA or something?

Yep, Skin’s released two solo albums. The first one was horrible, but the second one much more like anything she recorded with Skunk Anansie.

I’ve never heard of this band before, but I’m intrigued by their eclectic style, as Zulu’s brief synopsis points out.

Man, CC is awful, the host are all ignorant bastards that think they actually know something and end up annoying everybody.

Overall, it’s a decent song. I enjoyed the performance more so than the tune itself. That cue ball of a woman is certainly not short on vigor!

Skin has this uncanny similarity in vocals to another female artist from a corresponding musical genre, whom I can’t quite put my finger on…

Skunk Anansie is an acquired taste; that’s for sure. They may be regarded as fairly left field, which they undoubtedly are, but personally, I believe they’re at least worth appreciating. It’s really no wonder at all why they’re remotely not as renowned in the United States as they are in Europe.
