Um, FFVII is a really good game. Not as good as VI or XII, but definitely better than V (which is the worst), III, and X.
Jesus fucking christ guys, is this board full on haters on every forum here? Here I expected to run into FFVII fanboys and be arguing my points on why VII is not the best, not arguing over why VII is still a damn good game.
As far as this thread is concerned, I don’t think this "lag" your getting is really that much of a problem to be concered about, or make a thread about, I would suggest droping the game and playing much better PS3 games, if the lag really persists, or just don’t use KOTR.
I’m all for putting FFVII zombies in their place but the guy posted a simple question; he didn’t went "LOL VII DA BST SEPHRO RULZ" nor did he show any indicators that he’s a rabid fanboy.
I’m pretty sure you went after him because he’s new and happens to like VII and that’s just wrong.
So you consider it a bad game, a mediocre game. But hey, maybe some people like it anyway and don’t consider it to be so bad after all. You need to get off your fucking pedestal and learn the difference between someone that just likes the game and a zombie.
All right, find me a PS3 game worth playing and I’ll do so. Oh, but I already have Ninja Gaiden and Heavenly Sword, and Conan comes out this week, so those are the ONLY PS3 games worth owning until DMC4 comes out.
And I finished FFVII a few weeks ago, and then did VIII. The only FF game I need to play now is XI. However, I just wanted to know if people were having the same issues I was. No need to be rude about it people.
Its an old game its probably just sctatched or something. One or two bits in it went a bit odd for me before but its ok now. Try using kotr on PS2 again to see if its the disc thats the problem?

I wholeheartedly applaud that post.
Doesn’t it make more sence than disconnecting the PS3 and dusting off the old PS1 again?
Um, except I can’t since my FFVII game is on my PS3 Harddrive.
why bother playing PSOne titles on a next-gen console anyways? all you get are the same graphics. and besides even if I had a Playstation 3 console i wouldn’t be running PSOne titles on it anyways.
1. I don’t own a PS1 anymore. MY parents kept it when I moved out.
2. I have the 60GB PS3 that plays ALL PS1 and PS2 games.
3. It upconverts.
4. I played X, IX, and VIII on it as well as everything else I own for the PS2 now like God of War II. Why should I need to keep the PS2 hooked up using AV cables when I have a PS3 with HDMI.
5. I have no room with the Ps3, Wii, 360, VCR, HD-DVD player, DVD player, Receiver, and Dreamcast hooked up.
6. Why does it matter which system I’m playing it on?
7. Are you retarded or something? Because the way you speak in every one of your posts make you sound it you little DeeDeeDee bastard!!

not to reign on your parade or anything, bozo, but to tell the truth you sound retarded too.
oh have you ever considered, The Prick of a Master
Lol. Gee, I really have been a cunt see ever since I was a wee little baby. Almost everyone in the forums can see that. And now that I’ve left noone will ever think of me as the outright smart guy that I never was.
haha @ the moron.
Haha, yeah i’ve left alright. Misbehaving like this has just made me leave the forums fer good.
yeah and if that’s your point then it’s always because your mind is so fucked as shit you’ve been getting holy motherfuckin headaches all the time.
I’ve been "back" for all of two days now, and nine out of ten posts of yours (that I’ve read) have either been calling something or somebody "retarded" or they’re these really un-clever, un-funny, unintelligent misquotes of others, usually The Master. You wreck perfectly good threads and generally come off as a grating, immature asshole. So for your own sake, please stop.

Those in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones.
And at least he has a point to make.

I’m quoting this simply to say, that this is the most mature thing I’ve ever seen the guy say…
I think the FFVII-hate is mostly a bandwagon thing.
I by no means think the game is the greatest ever made, but it’s a damned good game. Most of what is suposedly bad about it, is entirely subjective. . . That being said, it’s not the game that’s bad, it’s the insane fanboys, who were 3 to 5 years old when the game came out. So the story had a mad whacked premise, I was ticked pink by the fact that the game had a story, most games for the Playstation console had seemed to have abandoned that concept. The RPG genre was quite bluntly, just for nerds, and storyline aspects for most games were being nixed for better graphics and new flash features. (It’s not the same as the modern issue of good storyline being glossed over for flashy graphics, it was a matter of doing away with storyline altogether.) Name one game that came out in the vicinity of FFVII that actually had a better storyline. You’ll draw a blank, or find that it came out a year or so later. Fallout and Diablo are really the only ones that come to mind as even having decent stories. That doesn’t mean they’re the only ones, it just means that FFVII came about in a time-frame where the storyline of the video-game was an endangered species. Without the paradigm shift that FFVII created in the videogame industry, the industry would have become hostile to the concept of a storyline in a videogame considering the contemporary trajectory. I’m not saying FFVII saved the concept of storyline. Other potential saviors came out in the the following years, and those actually set the standards, but many of them would not have ever seen the light of day, had the paradigm never shifted. The paradigm would have eventually shifted on it’s own though, seeing as the bottom would have fallen out on the market by now if it hat kept going at the rate it was going then. (For the same reason EA’s on the brink of going under right now actually.)
But what it did, positive or negative, not withstanding, Final Fantasy VII was a decent game. The graphics and the translation were choppy pieces of shit. The storyline was laughable, but engadging nonetheless, and it was quite entertaining. (For one thing if you flat out hate a storyline, the odds are, that you’re taking it too seriously.) The gameplay was superb. It wasn’t particularly innovative, it mostly took pre-existing mechanics and adapted them to 3D graphics. FFVII’s game engine is virtually identical to Chrono Trigger’s, I can actually list the differences in a very shoort list.
1.) FFVII Had more stats, but they served the same variety of functions.
2.) FFVII Used Materia for the progression of spells and other techniques, that progressed simultaneously when equiped, while Chrono Trigger gained all abilities in an ordered list that was innate to the character.
3.) Metamagical Capabilities are granted by linked matiera, while other materia grant commands that are available in previous games.
4.) Limit breaks, which were first introduced in FF6, that progress with the character and are driven by a stress meter.
5.) FFVII is the first and only Square game that I know of, that gives an integrity level to a barrier, that determines not just how strong it guards, but also how much damage it could take before it goes down.
So i’ve just listed every difference in Game engine between Chrono Trigger and FFVII. (Yeah I liked Chrono Trigger’s story better.)
The only thing I really dislike about FFVII, in terms of the game itself, is the controls are ass backwards from every other game out there. FFVII and FFT both have thoss same ass backwards controls, whereby the X and the O are switched reletive to everyone else. That’s all really. Everything else falls into the category of forgivable sillyness, or unanticipated choppiness, but the controls are just bullshit. Still that is all I can really think to gripe about. All the other flaws are just a good laugh. Although I do have to point out, that my liking the game more or less hinged in me doing only a few sidequests. I only do sidequests if the effort is proportionate to the rewards. Getting the Gold chocobo gives you access to some kick ass, from weapons to materia, but takes so much time to get, then even more to level up the Materia to where they were actually usefull, that In half the time, I could master 3 ultimas, and 3 quadra magics, and have the game nicked without the Knights of the Round. Otherwise you don’t need a chocobo for shit except for the Midgar Zalam, so i just simply get a chocobo for thatn then don’t fuck with the damned birds for the rest of the game… I would fault FFVII for this, but this does fall into the category of, "Every other rpg on the planet has a similar bullshit."
As for standards… Anyone who can call themselves Hardcore and Gamer in the same sentance, dispensed with those a long time ago. lol.
Dont cry
Hi, nice to meet you too. <3
It might be best for now to play FFVII on PS2/PSX, or maybe on an emulator if those aren’t available…><
For the people who dislike FFVII:
Remember to enjoy games for your own reasons. People can tell you they love a game and everything, but when it comes down to it, when you play a game, your experience…that experience belongs to you, only you, and to no one else.
If you’re still willing to give it a chance, play FFVII for yourself–find something in it that you can relate to; make the experience your own. Even if other people have enjoyed the game, the reasons you might find enjoyment in the game would never be completely the same.
But if you ever do decide to play FFVII, don’t do it because I told you to; don’t do it because other people want you to; do it because you want to. Make the experience your own.
And if you never want to, that’s fine, too.
But really–to people that are really rude to people who enjoy FFVII….
You guys really should do something for yourself once in a while.
You shouldn’t be so busy telling other people to stop doing things for themselves, and do something for yourself for once.
On the most part the only people who are bashed for liking FFVII are arrogant fanboys who say stupid things like:
Well i think its the best game ever created and i simply dont care jack squat what you guys think
Then are you saying they should care about your rude responses?
XP
(It’s one thing to refuse to listen to another because they have a different view of things, but it’s another matter to refuse to listen to another because they are rude…Judging from the first few replies, the topic creator didn’t do much to deserve rude replies, so it’s only natural that giving rude replies results in what you’d call an "arrogant" response.
Don’t make the mistake of thinking the result of your rudeness–an "arrogant response"– is justification for being rude in the first place….)
And fanboy’s don’t have to care what we post, but they do 99.9% of the time, which is why we do so in the first place.
Thank you for that insightful, well thought out arguement.
Hm. It may not be what your intention is, but that makes it almost seem as though you want to punish people for caring about your words.
I still think it’s better to teach them to be less ignorant or stupid rather than to just say they are (I mean, might as well, since you’re going through the trouble of typing a response to them…)
If you don’t have time for that, then you shouldn’t worry about them.
And since when did FFVII=the entire series? you know there are other games right? like FFIX and FFX, both of which I like.
Jesus fucking christ guys, is this board full on haters on every forum here? Here I expected to run into FFVII fanboys and be arguing my points on why VII is not the best, not arguing over why VII is still a damn good game.
XII is horrible. VIII and VI are the best ones by quite a way. And VII was great despite its many flaws. Which you can really only see if you play it now, I thought it was great when I first played it, which counts for a lot I think.
hahaha
