Make sure you have a Diamond Armlet, otherwise all chests will contain crap. The actual spawn of the chest containing it will have a very small chance of appearing each time you enter the area, so keep trying. Also, it’s not worth the amount of time you’ll spend on it. Get a Demon Shield or something.

thanks quantum link i’ve already got demon shield just trying to get everything on the game and complete my license board the diamond armlets are a bit of a mystery to i’m nearly at the end of the game now and still cant find them…

I think the Diamond Armlets can either be bought in Lowtown or the Estersand village shop. I’m not 100% though as it’s been weeks since I’ve played on my PS2, still longer FFXII.

As for the Zodiac Escutcheon, the only advice I can offer is keep trying. Certain chests in FFXII have a really shitty chance of appearing (sometimes as low as 10%) and then another given chance of containing the item you’re looking for.

It may take 10-20 goes, but you’ll get it eventually.

Excallibur would be a better, and more convenient choice.

i only need sag bow tournesol and dragon whisker then its owned well apart from ribbon that bloody chocobo is never gonna apear!!!!!

Sag bow is kind of a bitch to get. Beastlord horns are hard to come by, though not impossible (easier than getting the tournesol).

There is a ribbon in the Subterra of Pharos, IIRC. Gamefaq it to be sure.

I think I read you can find Ribbons on the Cerobi Steppe, but only with a Diamond Armlet equipped, and the chances of them appearing are pretty low.

But if you can’t get the Red Chocobo to appear, that’s a very good alternative if indeed it is true. I’ll check it up in the official guide when I get a chance.

BTW, for the Red chocobo, I’ve heard about a trick where you can spawn the Red Choco (1 in 256 times) without having to zone 2 screens away. IIRC, in the screen just outside of Jahara, there are 2 groups of chocobos. If you petrify the 1st group, wait until they "die" and disappear from the screen, and then run to the 2nd group, petrify and wait, you can go back to the 1st group and they will have respawned. I believe you’re advised to kill (attack) the snakes in the meantime so you can at least get some loot while you’re doing this.

You’re close, but there is something that has a lower drop rate than anything. The Zodiac Spear drop in Henne Mines…either the drop rate was 1% or .1%….either way, its a major disappointment. Of course, I hope I can get lucky, because I already opened the chests in every area, and made that damn mistake. =\

Oh yeah, and Beastlord Horns can’t be that difficult to obtain, I’ve gotten quite a few from Humbabas in Mosphoran Highwaste. Speaking of that place, still gotta kill that damn Wary Wolf there….stupid 7% spawn rate….*sigh*

i got a ribbon at the carrobi steppe. i managed to get it first time lucky or what!!!the problem i’m having now is scarletite but i’m in the pharos and heard you can get one in there the rare game are already dead and didn’t get a good drop! sag bow is becoming a bit of a pain in the arse (moon ring).

And as for the Wary Wolf, I killed it numerous times. Course I was doing major leveling and at that time it was extremely annoying to have it spawn >.>
