Best Oriental Themed Songs/Albums?

The title explains it all. What do you think is the best oriental themed song or album?

I’d have to say Guild Wars: Factions had really good oriental themed songs.

Man…this is a stretch. I can’t really say I have one for video games, but I can say Singapore from Pirates of the Carribean III is pretty cool. Nope, can’t say for video games.

Unless that song’s in the video game version of PotC: AWE…

I find Okami having music that really catches the "oriental" theme.

Even though its not game related, The Twelve Girls Band is an oriental band. I have a CD by ’em.

Okami also gets my vote. Some of the songs are simply beautiful and capture that classic Japanese feel, like the song for the Aristocratic Qtr. in Sei-an City.

I like the Shenmue theme

"Sadame" – Tenchu Wrath of Heaven. My favourite Japanese (?) vocal song.

Anything from Okami gets my vote. Also a great game if you ask me.

The music from Jade Empire tingles my asian ears.

Shenmue II > all, IMO. That game had some fantastic Oriental music.

howcome noone mentioned FFX? the theme was as oriental as they come, not all the songs though.

Prince of Persia and the middle eastern theme of Battlefield Modern Combat. Sadly there’s no music rip yet available for the middle eastern BFMC theme.

The song "Autumn Wind" from Shin Sangoku Musou BB is pretty cool to me.

I think the song "Interceptor" from Dynasty Warriors 4 fits that. Some other songs from that series too.

To me, it’s both Shenmue I and II.

Angry Aztec from Donkey Kong 64

Goemon series have great oriental, japanese music. In fact, it mixes with some modern beats sometimes, but keeps up with very elaborate melodies and arrangements that value the sounds of Japanese instruments. In my opinion, Goemon’s Great Adventure for the n64 is the best one.

Breath of Fire IV Soundtrack has some oriental influences too, like Chinese, and Indian.

Okami is the best (or most consistently good) example I can think of.

You gotta give it to Shenmue! Although Okami does come at a close second.

Oriental Sentinels on ZXA Tunes (Megaman ZX Advent Original Soundtrack) is quite good.

Tenchu series has some good oriental stuff, too.

Are you sure that Japan (far east) is located in the Orient (near east)?

However, some tracks of demo stuff for Unreal Tournament 3 sounds very oriental for me. 😀

I’m quite shocked.

No one ever bothered to mention "Suikoden V". Although there may be some music in the OST not Oriental-themed, the majority is.

An example would be Raftfleet’s theme.

The God of War OST is def my favourite!!

My favorite games with oriental music in them would have to be:

Onimusha: Warlords, Onimusha 2 and Dynasty Warriors 4. DW4 has the best OST out of all of them.

Way of the samurai, the title pretty much says it’s going to have oriental sounding music in it.

If you mean Oriental in the way of "Far East":
Jade Empire, Battle Realms, Ookami, Ragnarok Online (it does have a bunch of good far eastern-themed music), Kal Online, Soul Calibur-series and a few Strategy games which have Japan or China as playable nation (Hearts of Iron or Civilization for example).

If you mean Oriental in the way of "Middle East":
Phantom Brave, Ragnarok Online, Soul Calibur-series and said strategy games, only going for Arabia, India, Egypt, Turkey etc.

That’s all I can think of right now.

There is no question in my mind that VM Japan Original Soundtrack is the best fusion of Japanese-esque instruments and the house/dance genre. I haven’t heard the Okami soundtrack before, but if it’s just regular, traditional Japanese instrumentation, then I would rather go with any of the Samurai Spirits soundtracks.

Okami is of course a shoe in. That game is just plain amazing. A game that seems to be overlooked as far as oriental songs would definitely be the original Shadow Hearts soundtrack (although SH: Covenant has some songs as well). Although it does have a couple real duds that make your ears bleed.
