Anime’s just not the same for me anymore

I don’t know how it happened, but it just seems that a lot of anime just tries too hard to be Neon Genesis. I have nothing against that show…except for those last couple of episodes, oh geez. Anyway all I’m saying is that it would be nice to see something orignal. We’re still capable of orignal thoughts, right? If I’m the only person who feels this way, I’ll shut up.

I don’t really understand why you’d say that everything’s trying to be like Evangelion. Sure, there are a lot of copycats out there, but there’s a lot of really excellent original stuff if you look for it. You’re just not going to find most of it on tv.

I don’t really know your interests. It’s like I always tell people: you should figure it out on your own. Look for things that catch your interest, then see what people have to say about them and decide for yourself if it’s something you want to see. But ALWAYS start with your own initiative.

That’s the way I work, and I’m good at finding the great shows that no one ever talks about. Of course, you can do things any way you like, but I won’t help you with anything other than my thoughts on titles you specifically ask about.

umm, in what way are ‘a lot’ of animes like NGE? i can’t really think of any particular anime in recent memory that had significant similarities with NGE. and NGE itself had a lot of anime stereotypes in both characters and plot, so the similarities you see could just be general anime homogeneity, not NGE-specific. (not that it’s any less annoying to see…)

I thought maybe they meant stuff like the tsundre characters, but yeah, that’s been prevalent in anime and bishoujo games for a long time.
