Epicness at its best. Ignore the slow, dark, start, and wait for the fun to begin. The two climaxes in this song are easily a couple of the greatest in gaming history, and compares to several from the Movie Soundtrack industry. The choir adds a whole new level to this piece. Surprisingly, the techno works well. <3 Yuki Kajiura!
I actually have it, but it`s one of the best songs I`ve ever heard!
And then there’s jpop … but it goes hand in hand with japanese vgm listeners, or so I would assume.
Dhurrr… No? Well, I also listen to Japanese music. There are some Western bands I kinda like (Evanescence, Tenacious D, Linkin Park), but I only listen to Western music like… 1 hour a year. The only Western album I’m currently looking forward to is N*E*R*D’s new album (whenever that comes out…).
Anyway, since it’s been like 2 weeks since I beat Rogue Galaxy, I’ll recommend an RG song. I’d like to recommend THE GALAXY PUBLIC CORPORATION (http://gh.ffshrine.org/song/4828/53). A very soothing piano/violin song.
When it comes to game music, I listen to music that I actually like and don’t follow everyone else. Donkey Kong Country, Grabbed by the Ghoulies, Mario Party 7, and Taz-Mania all count as some of my favorite game music.
I’m strange.
Inevertrable Retreat, a remix of an Earthworm Jim 2 song. The song was also used by Tommy Tallarico (the man himself) on the otherwise fairly bad Best of Videogame Music arrange album. An excellent song and probably quite appealing to the mainstream public as well.
The largest part of my music collection (and what I pretty much only listen to lately) are actuavideogame music arrangements. 😛 (ocremix, vgmix, housethegrate, the one ups, a lot of doujin albums, …)
I don’t really listen to videogame music soundtracks because they tend to be repetive. Always good to hear when a composer releases a full arrange album of their own ost (like Yasunori Mitsuda)
Oh yeah, I also listen to metal (trash, speed and black), gabber hardcore, jazz (acid), ambient, chiptunes and classical music. 🙂
