I quite like FFVII, actually, but there is a difference between liking something and hyping it to infinity, which is what you’re doing, and so has SE for 10 years. It’s because of people like you that movies like Advent Children, probably the shittiest piece of cinematography in the last 7 years, is praised and Spirits Within was considered a flop.

No, Advent Children is praised because it’s a pretty damned good movie, even if it has overglorified side-quest (can’t call it overglorified episode since it wasn’t a TV show) written all over it, and The Spirit’s Within was well thought but poorly made and mediocre at best. I liked The Spirit’s Within, it just wasn’t well presented. Advent Children was well presented whether you like it or not.

Final Fantasy VII is by no means a bad game – it’s quite good in fact. But it is indeed "hyped to infinity". Personally, I rather liked Final Fantasy VI and IX.

And also, many FF fans consider it to be the best out of the series….although i think IX and VIII are also very good.

I thought it was a fair tribute to a now classic game. People can object all they want, but we all liked the game at some point. I do think it would’ve been considered "great" by a lot more people today, if Square wasn’t to intend on showing it down peoples’ throats.

If FFVI had been the one in the limelight with constant overexposure, I am sure that people would have reacted the same way as they did to FFVII.

on a side note, i think james woods voice acting is what killed spirits within.

yeah i like spirit within, actually it is better than FFAC in story and depth IMHO.. it was just poorly presented.. plus with so little elements of the FF elements in it, made even FF fans despise it..it’s just waaay to confusing for movie audiences consumption

As for FFVII, It’s a game I spent my first years as a gamer playing it, it’s a average game, what pisses me off is all the hype it gets from idiotic fanboys who insist on making it out to be the best thing in the world, it’s not, and should not be treated as such.

you cant go watch ffsi if you never played the games, you wouldnt get all those gaia and world life things that they didnt explain too well.

and no, i wasnt joking… sorta. hes got a domineering voice that is incredibly distinguishable and every time i heard him talk i thought of hercules or ghosts of mississippi or virgin suicides or just pictured him standing in a sound booth… just turned me off to it.

i also remember sitting in a movie theater the day it came out with 4 other people. …you know, it could have been that.

Both are completely terrible, I don’t like either of them, but Spirits within should not of been called FF in the first place, at least AC had somthing to do with Final Fantasy in the first place. Don’t think I’m defending it at all, It’s still a piece of shit.

The Master, have you seen Spirits Within? It had a whole lot of to do with Final Fantasy. They even used several of names from the world of Final Fantasy, so to say that it had nothing to do with Final Fantasy, is not true.

I don’t like it either, but it definitely had something to do with Final Fantasy.

Oh did it?, I must admit it was a while ago I saw it, I never noticed much that had to do with FF I was like 7 at the time, all I remember is Gaia being said, and someone called Cid.

I have seen a lot worse, and this one was not bad at all. I liked the opening, and how it introduced (or reintroduced) the watcher to the game.

The Spirit Within is a great movie. A lot of fans of the series dislike it because we don’t see any magics or summons in it.

But the core of the story is very Final Fantasy-esque. The only thing that I don’t like much in it is the fact that unlike most of the FF universes, in SW, they didn’t mix medieval-fantasy with Sci-fi (no Castle with tech-armors… or people fighting with swords and guns at the same time, etc…).

But I still enjoy it a lot, and can only praise Sakaguchi for taking such a visionary approach to movie making.
