OK, I finally got around to doing this…
this is one of my favourite game soundtracks, yet nobody seemed to have ripped it before, so I decided to do my own.
I couldn’t find a way of extracting the music from the game files, I think it is in some proprietary format. I used the Optical SPDIF output of my PS2 and converted these recordings to MP3 using LAME v3.97 (Standard preset, averaging at about 213 kbps).
Tracklist:
01. Intro 0:51
02. Title Screen 0:19
03. Adventure Mode Intro 0:48
04. Customise Plane 1:06
05. Map 0:38
06. Briefing 1 1:10
07. Briefing 2 1:08
08. Briefing 3 1:03
09. Briefing 4 1:10
10. On Your Way 3:02
11. Fretful 3:02
12. Tension 2:57
13. Stress 3:15
14. The Search 3:08
15. Moonlit Night 3:08
16. Courage 2:54
17. Mystery 2:57
18. Discovery 2:58
19. Anxiety 3:11
20. Freedom 2:54
21. Vindication 2:43
22. Item Found 0:05
23. Mission Complete 0:08
Tracks 10-21 bear their actual titles as displayed in the game’s unlockable radio mode. Tracks 6-10 were amplified by 10dB using Audacity’s amplifier, as they are only played in lowered volume in the game menu. All tracks are tagges (ID3v1 and ID3v2) and have track and album ReplayGain info.
The tracklist should be complete to the best of my knowledge, but I cannot guarantee it at this point. I feel like I’m going to play the game through again shortly, and if I find anything I missed, I will of course update this release. However, all unlockable tracks and all music from the menus is definitely in there.
Let me know if there’s anything wrong!
And sorry that I had to split the archive, but 4Shared has a 50MB limit and is in my opinion the most reliable hosting service.
Download Part 1 (47.6 MB) (http://www.4shared.com/file/25974048/311dfd16/Sky_Odysseypart1.html)
Download Part 2 (20.3 MB) (http://www.4shared.com/file/25974836/97f7176e/Sky_Odysseypart2.html)
Download SFV (http://www.4shared.com/file/25972997/3eb6fa99/Sky_Odyssey.html)
Unfortunately I failed to log in to my 4Shared account for 30 days, so all my files got deleted. When I get home today I will upload the archive again and post the new link.
If anyone wants my rip you can get it here (http://www.sendspace.com/file/n3ns9u)
Oh and Anamon, the game’s sound format is not in any proprietary format, the cinematics are in standard PS2 MPEG and can be extracted by virtually any PS2 movie extractor, the Mission Briefings are compressed and all the other music (that you hear during missions and in the menus) is sequenced which means we’re never going to be able to extract them.
that’s exactly what I meant, they are compressed and the archive is in a proprietary format which I was not able to extract. I was not interested in the sound or the movies.
I think I have downloaded your rip too, and as I said above I thought that mine was incomplete and your rip helped me find out which tracks mine was missing, thanks for that. I record the missing tracks again too with my recording and compression (unlooped) and keep my own version up too for those who have the same preferences.
can you re-up it please?
2 Anamon
thx you for available rip)
The sensation of flight was well captured here, even if it wasn’t meant to be a sim by any means. The music was probably the best part of the game.
(tried to check kutlass’ too, but link was dead)
thx 🙂
