I have the entire box set with all twelve movies, and even though none of the sequels even comes close to the original, I still love most (if not all) of them. The original first movies was obviously far darker and actually pretty sad, compared to the bright sing-along sequels. The music for the first movie is one of the finest pieces of work I have ever heard, too.

Any thoughts on "The Land Before Time"?

Only the first 7 are any good, after that they were just boring to watch, the Original was the best, I prefer cartoons to be slightly dark, with deaths and such, makes it more interesting, and the first one very nearly made me cry, which movies rarely make me do, specially that scene were Littlefoot thought his shadow was his mother, I blinked back a tear.

Me, too! I still think that the first movie is so sad, and certainly not a movie for younger children. The first movie didn’t insult your intelligence as the many of the others did, it was a pure masterpiece.

Also, is it just me or did the animation get worse? :/ They somehow turned the terrifying Sharptooth from the first movie into a giant joke in the sequels.

The first one was one of my favorite movies for years. I haven’t seen it in a long time, because I’m kind of afraid that it will lose some of its novelty if I see it now.

All the musical sequels are crap compared to the first one, though. The second one is the only one that comes close to matching it. And even that’s a longshot.

Also everytime those dinos singed I wantedto kill myself, and I always wanted the T-Rex (Yes I said T-rex, not that ridicilous nickname) to eat the fuckers, bloody smily cunts, also the one were they hang around with a baby T rex was good, as a child I cried when they had to say goodbye.

I just watched movie 7 and 10 again, and they weren’t that bad to be honest. The 7th movie, Stone of Cold Fire, actually told how the other dinosaurs came to the Great Valley, and in the 10th movie, Littlefoot finally met his father. x)

The score by James Horner is definitely on my "Soundtracks to Get" list.

i only saw the first three. but the first one brings me to tears everytime i see it. when little foot’s mom dies, omg heartwrenching. and it’s so sad how he’s dragging the leaf with him the entire time.

I love this film :D! I remember back in ’89 on my sixth birthday I got the VHS for the very first one. I still have it in my posession today.

I’ve only see the first two, but never got an oppurtunity to see the rest. What are they like? Did I miss anything?

I watched the original more than a few times as a child, usually as a fill in baby sitter when staying at my grandma’s house, a SHUT THE FUCK UP KID device you know. I’ve not revisited it since I’ve been an adult – but the never ending sequels have long been a great form of amusement for me. Going to a store’s DVD section and seeing what new Land Before Time has debuted that week is always fun.

I really liked the first one, it was one of my favorite movie when I was a kid, but even then I found it retarded how many sequels they were pumping out, never bothered watching them.

It’s been a really long while since I saw the first one, it never plays anymore (it use to play all the time when I was a kid).
