Card game help!

Ok, I’m on Disc 1 and I basically got the "Random" rule spread out in Galabadia when I played that Trabia transfer student. Which means I can’t play the Card Queen quest. Now my question is, is there’s someone from Balamb that I can play to abolish this rule? did someone try this before?

Um… you’re on Disc 1? Though there are some good opportunities to get a few specific cards on Disc 1, the biggest possibilities for the card game really don’t start opening up until Disc 2. Is there any particular reason why you’re trying to deal with it on Disc 1?

I don’t know about Balamb — but you could try Dollet. Stop by over there (and don’t spread any rules this time) and then head back to Galbadia. I assume you’re familiar with the process for abolishing a rule, right?

It takes a little bit of time, but…

Initiate a game with somebody in Balamb, or wherever you want the Random rule abolished. Play the person once (or maybe twice) so that the rules change. Usually, they will say "The ____ rule has spread throughout this region." There’s a small chance that they’ll say "The ____ rule was abolished in this region." Reset until that happens.

Consult an FAQ, in case my memory fails me.

But the point is, he’s on Disc 1. If he’s in Galbadia (Garden?), I don’t see how he’s getting back to Balamb on Disc 1. That’s why I suggested Dollet. It uses a different ruleset, so it should work. Not sure — maybe Timber too? I think maybe it has its own ruleset, though maybe they use Galbadia’s…

Oh yeah, I’ve just finished the Tomb quest so I’m almost finished with Disc 1. But I wanted to abolish Random to lose "Sacred" to the QoC. I’m aware how to abolish card rules but I’ve tried in both Dollet and Timber with "locals" and I always reject mixing up rules (though I did get Random, before I realized that the rule went all over Galabadia)

So wait a second — are you saying you’ve already gotten the Queen of Cards to move from Balamb? You’ve really started early.

Well, what you need to do is go Timber or Dollet, and like you did before, reject mixing up the rules. Keep doing it until you’re no longer given the offer to spread the rules. Then play a normal game and head back to Galbadia. You should be given the option to play a game combining the rules. This time, you’re going to want to accept. Make sure to save beforehand. And then, that’s it. If you mix up the rules, that opens up the possibility to abolish Random. And if you end up spreading instead, then you reset.

Or, just wait until Disc 2 and make things a lot easier on yourself.

I’m baaaaaack

Ok, I’m on disc 2 now and I’ve finished the CC group and moved on to the QoC but!! since I lost the "Sacred" card to her she moved on to DC and there (and everywhere in Galabadia) the rule is still Random+Plus/Same

And yes, when I’m on Balamb garden I usually reject mixing and it gives me the good ol’ Balamb rule

Got any idea? Thanks

As said before, you need to go to someplace that has at least one rule that the area where you want to abolish a rule doesn’t. Then, at the area that has the unwanted rule, mix the rules, and it’s possible to abolish the rule using the same process that would normally spread a rule. The odds are not in your favor, though, so it may take a lot of resetting to get it to work.

Hmm, I went to Winhill and it didn’t abolish it (just passed the "Open" rule). I also played with the tourist from FH (in DC) and she also passed the "Open" rule and the "Random" disappeared (when I played her again) but when I played the QoC in DC Random appeared again. So does that mean that it has to say on the screen that the "Rule" was "abolished"?

And what about the student in the docks of Balamb, would playing him abolish the rules in Galabadia?

From what I understand, in order for the rule to be abolished, it should say "The ____ rule was abolished from this region." As I said, the normal tendency is for rules to spread and that’s why if you really want a shot at it, you have to use save and reset.

I really couldn’t say. I recall reading something about it before, but I have no personal experience with it. I suppose it couldn’t hurt to give it a shot.
