Hurt/Heal: THE GAME – Final Fantasy Summons!

Here are the rules!:

Players are only allowed to post their actions once every half hour. That means if you post one play at 7:00 and the next at 7:58, your play at 7:58 will be ignored and you can’t post a play again until 8:58.

Starting out, you get two (2) points per play. These points can be used to hurt twice, heal twice, or one of each. Eventually, the point rules may change farther into the game to increase/decrease the values, but for now they will remain the standard rules.

Example of How to Play:

This is how each "play" should be formatted, or something close to this

"Hurt/Hurt Kilika Island" (then Kilika Island would have 2 less life points)

or…

"Heal/Heal Kilika Island" (then Kilika Island would have 2 more life points)

or…

"Hurt Kilika Island/Heal Zanarkand Ruins" (then Kilika Island would have one less life point, and Zanarkand Ruins would have one more life point)

Getting Specials:

If you are a user and post your first play on the first two pages of the thread, after posting your first play you may PM (Private Message) me a prediction of who you think will come in whatever place. Here is an example:

"These are my predictions…
1st place… Cloud
5th place… Penelo
13th place… Rinoa"

(When sending the predictions, please make the subject "Hurt/Heal Prediction")

If any of your predictions are correct throughout the game or by the end of the game (if you correctly predict the 1st place spot), you may have the chance to get a SPECIAL which you may use at any point during the game to swing things your way. You may chose to play for whomever you like best and/or play for specials, and however you use them is entirely up to you; there’s a wide variety of strategies you can use here.

Keep in mind that I won’t allow you to post a prediction for someone that will come in whatever place when they’re only a few points away from elimination; that is a cheap way of getting a special and that won’t be allowed. 😉

Keep in mind that if there is any flaming, spamming, trolling, or anything of the nature you will not be able to play for the rest of the round. This game is very popular and fun, and you CAN talk during the game without worrying about the one-hour time limit, just keep in mind when you can and cannot make your play. Oh, I got the impression that people didn’t generally enjoy the espers from FFXII because of their vague impact on the storyline, and plus the standard limit for Hurt/Heal characters is 30, so it was just enough to get the major summons for the earlier Final Fantasies… I dunno, maybe those espers will be in a future Hurt/Heal. 😉

I should probably update the list now…

It appears as if I actually made the mistake this time. The post, on pg. 8, refuting your claim was made a minute before your update, which showed Titan having 16 pts. left. I backtracked to the previous update (pg. 7), and Titan was at 22 pts. at the time. You attacked him four times on that same page, and then I had attacked him twice on the next page, bringing him down to 16 pts., meaning your update was, in fact, accurate.

My two screw-ups were wrongly assuming and overlooking stuff. Assuming that since your post was a minute after mine, you wouldn’t have been able to include the -2 pts. I had inflicted on Titan the minute before, and overlooking the fact that my username was displayed as having eliminated Pandemona, which was proven on that same post a minute before the pg. 8 update.

Now, I’ve seen several of your posts coincide with each other, so it shouldn’t have came as a surprise to me. In short, stop manipulating time, dammit; that was exactly what I meant when I had said "tampering with my Internets!" (That last sentence was a joke. I’m pretty sure how you go about doing that so often.)

It’s ironic due to the fact that the word anima, which is Latin, refers to the spirit, breathing, etc. – something along those lines. You’re familiar with the word animate and its definitions, I’m sure. Well, it derived from anima, as well as every other word with anima as its root.

Okay, now I’m curious as to what Ruby Light would’ve done!

I’m trying to figure out how you could translate its special attack from the actual game to Hurt/Heal. If someone were to be awarded with "RL" and activated it, any magic attack (a special) toward Carbuncle would’ve been sent back to harm the attacker instead, right?

Oh, Ruby Light would’ve been like a deflector in this instance. Any special that would’ve been aimed at him would’ve been deflected at another summon (chosen randomly). In a critical condition (2 life points remaining), I would roll the dice to see if Hurting or Healing would be deflected at another summon or not (probably a 75% chance or something like that).

Yeah, it was one of the sweeter specials, because it would allow players supporting Carbuncle to keep him hanging on by a thread while trying to eliminate other summons, and it would protect him from specials which would be very useful should he make it to the Top 3/Top 2.

Speaking of which, it was activated by reaching the Top 3. Imagine that. 😛

That’s the end of that!

I’m surprised Leviathan came this far in the game, to be honest. I don’t recall anyone healing it, which is most likely due to it not being a particularly popular summon. On the other hand, people (just myself, iirc) weren’t really harming it either until very late in the game, because it was not a summon you had to pay it’s…just there, and many probably weren’t thinking about it in the first place.

I’m surprised Leviathan made it this far, but I really liked him in FFVIII. Recover was my hero. 😀
