When I was watching Monster yesterday, the song "somewhere over the rainbow" (Wizard of Oz) playing in the show. It was rearranged (very well) and I couldn’t help but wonder, are they allowed to put that on cd?

(As I look around, I noticed that it’s not included in the ost, is that because they’re not allowed to do so? Copyright from the wizard of oz gotta be expensive I’m guessing.)

The Melancholy of Haruhi has Gustav Mahler’s 8th Symphony in it.

I know that the 2 dragonballz movies

Lord Slug and Revenge of Cooler has a lot of actual music done by today’s rock bands.
I was really suprised when i heard it.

"Paranoid Android" by Radiohead was in Ergo Proxy.

batista1019, those rock bands you hear in the DBZ movies you mentioned weren’t in the original Japanese version. I believe they were added in when they reached stateside.

And in Vandread (first season) you could hear "What a wonderful world" by Louis Armstrong.

As for the Dragonball movies, Batista, if you saw US-dubbed versions, they may actually be re-orchestrated, like the Street fighter animated movie was, IE with songs by rock bands instead of the actual japanese OST. Because on our good old french VHS (awful dub, original soundtrack), i do not remember hearing rock.^_-

well i was just pointing it out.

I’m 100% sure that the dbz movies in japan didn’t have rock music lol.

it was just where i had heard known rock bands in anime.

The other dbz movies didn’t have that music though.

I really liked when goku went ssj3 in fusion reborn, and i wish i could find that song >.<.

as for "famous" music, I’m pretty sure i heard the main theme of the A-team in FMP…or something really similar.

"You Raise Me Up" (written by Secret Garden’s Rolf Lvland; the lyrics by Brendan Graham) is the ROMEO x JULIET theme.

They have a Japanese Translation (but you can get both the JP and the EN versions here.)
