In 2007, Konami announced a port of Symphony of the Night will be included in Castlevania: The Dracula X Chronicles for the Sony PSP, this version will feature full screen graphics as well as a touched up localization. It will be retranslated and have all new voice acting.

Castlevania: The Dracula X Chronicles is a Playstation Portable game in the popular Castlevania series of games by Konami. The game is essentially a remake of Akumajou Dracula X: Chi no Rondo with 3D graphics, but it still retains the 2D gameplay mechanics. The game will also include the original Akumajou Dracula X: Chi no Rondo as well as a port of the PlayStation game Castlevania: Symphony of the Night . The planned release date for the game is sometime in the fall of 2007.

Castlevania: The Dracula X Chronicles will represent the first time that Akumajou Dracula X: Chi no Rondo will be officially released outside of Japan, barring the SNES remake. While the original Akumajou Dracula X: Chi no Rondo featured anime style artwork, Castlevania: The Dracula X Chronicles will feature new character designs by Castlevania: Symphony of the Night character designer Ayami Kojima.

Supposed release date is August 25, 2007

Now I will have to get a PSP. Not just for this game but for other ports as well. I’m a big Castlevania SOTN fan and I could play that game over and over.

Is anyone else gonna pick this title up?

I’m already playing SOTN on my PSP with the custom firmware and ISO I ripped from my old copy of the game.

I might have done that if I had a PSP already. But this SOTN version will have some updates and new voice acting. So I think it’s worth the buy since it also has a game never before released here in the states. Plus new character designs.

I’ve got SotN on the 360 although does anybody know if the PSP port will include the awesome FMVs that were sorely lacking in the XBLA release.

BTW, in my humble opinion, changing the voice acting in SotN is blasphemous. Almost everybody goes on about how bad it was but personally, Alucard’s voice was awesome. He had so many great lines as well. Dracula was good as well. The only voice actors worth changing are Maria and Richter. Those two had awful voice actors.

I don’t know about the rest but man, the new version I THINK will give you the option of keeping the original or the new voice acting. Atleast that’s what i heard.

In any case, it’ll be worth the 30 or 40 bucks. I’ll be picking up a copy post-haste!
