Dont ever watch Naruto dubbed :-\
La Chevalier D’Eon (I find it kinda jarring to watch it in Japanese than in English.)
FullMetal Alchemist (Had a very good dub, and it didn’t make my ears bleed.)
Utawarerumono (Has a great dub so far.)
There alot of dubs that I like, but typing them all would give me carpel tunnel syndrome. >_>;;
Worst:
Bible Black (It was hysterically bad. I know it’s a hentai anime, so dub-wise I shouldn’t have expected much, but COME ON.)
This has to be the worst dub ever. But then again, it was horrible in Japanese too. XD
This fucker doesn’t know what the hell he’s talking about.
I’ll give you Seras being terrible, but the rest of the characters are damn near perfect.
EDIT: And the new OVA series kicks the shit out of the old one, so even the criticism of Seras doesn’t hold up as much anymore.
Best dub? Vision of Escaflowne. That anime just rocked, and still is one of my old favorites.
Best would probably be Cowboy Bebop. Excel Saga is pretty good too.
-Sailor Moon, as done by DiC ><;
Recent Runners Up:
-Death Note, as done by Viz
-The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, as done by Bandai

The Menace from East Easterland

Best: Cowboy Bebop did a pretty good job. And Spike just has the best voice.
But I dunno about you guys, but one dub I can’t live without is the Golden Boy anime. That shit was well done. "STUDY STUDY STUDY!"
The worst is .Hack//Legend Of The Twilight because the voices were headache-inducing.
The Worst: Sailor moon, Robotech
But whatever. None of my business.

Solty Rei
Cromartie High
Ghost Stories
Worst dubs:
InuYasha (which is my favorite SUBBED anime)
Voltron –> no words could describe the horror…..
That said, the only halfway decent dub I’ve seen is Full Metal Alchemist.
As far as really crappy dub jobs go? The worst will always be anything by 4Kids. Shaman King, Naruto, One Piece, Yu-Gi-Oh… Absolute shit.
What really sucks about it is those are some of my favorite animes and mangas. Of course, the manga translations (and editing) always leave a bit to be desired – fansubs and scanslations FTW!
Congratulations. You are now a card-carrying member of the Moron Club. As a member of the MC, you are entitled to certain "benefits," including mockery and disdainful glares from all the more sensible members of the community.
Why don’t you step down from your soapbox and enlighten us with what YOUR favorite and least favorite dubs are – since that is the topic of the thread.
Besides, blindly pointing out what you like without creating any real discussion is far worse than being argumentative.
If you have already discussed your opinions, and don’t desire to do so again, I suggest you not post in the thread. While I’m sure this thread has been rehashed over and over and over again in your 3 years on this forum, and I’m also sure that you have discussed AT LENGTH your opinions somewhere is your amazing 8,000 posts, you failed to mention them here. You failed to do so in a very arrogant and annoying manner, and have still contributed nothing of actual value to the thread – although reading some of your other posts elsewhere on the forum, I am not surprised, as there is little of actual value by you anywhere else on this forum that I can see.
Of course, now you will attempt to make me look stupid somehow for falling into your trap, perhaps by pulling quote from this out of context and laughing about them (possibly this very one!). With that I will move on to my next point.
Besides, blindly pointing out what you like without creating any real discussion is far worse than being argumentative.Really? Are you sure about that? I suppose you don’t hold yourself to your own lofty standards?

And if you have a problem with me not liking Kirby, you are a sad individual indeed.About as sad as you are for having a problem with me not liking dubs! :smrt:
So all that said, I will recant one thing I said. You did offer something of value to this thread. I probably would not have had the inclination to further explain my position had it not been for your needling. Thanks. 😀
Case in point, you’d have to be pretty crazy to think that the Hellsing Ultimate dub is inferior to the sub in any way.
Case in point, you’d have to be pretty crazy to think that the Hellsing Ultimate dub is inferior to the sub in any way.You may be somewhat right on that first point. Tell you what, I’ll check out the Hellsing dub and check back in here.
I have taken notice of some of the Miyazaki dubs (specifically Howl’s Moving Castle, the latest, but also some of the previous movies as well), and they are not bad, but many of the cultural subtleties are completely lost, and voice inflections and such completely change the "feel" of some scenes. These are recent dubs, and no doubt a lot of money and effort went into them. They are still inferior to the subtitled versions of the same movies, by the same production house.
There are other movies and series I have seen that have obviously had a great dub team, a great budget, and great effort has been taken to do a great job… but compared to the subtitled versions, the dubs are STILL crap. This is the reason why my kids (the oldest is 12, the youngest is 4) watch the subtitled versions instead of the dubbed. If we wanted an American movie, we would watch one. We want the culture and intended art and flow behind what we watch, and we have found the only way to really do that is with the subtitled versions. Sometimes fan subs are even superior to official releases… even through subtitles many scenes can be completely altered by using a different choice of words than the creator intended.
All that is a long-winded way to say I’ll try it, and it may change my blanket statement to have a few exceptions. I still believe those exceptions to be few and far between, though.
As far as the ones Disney have dubbed are concerned, they have been handled pretty questionably in most cases. But then again, what else would you expect from Disney? Dubbing the Ghibli movies is nothing more than a side job for them. The companies that specialize in anime dubbing typically do a much better job.
Honestly, you should give some of the recent dubs a chance (just for the sake of fairness, even if you still prefer subs), especially the ones that aren’t being pumped out as fast as possible to be aired in the mainstream.
R.O.D the TV – Another good example of how proper accents can make a difference. Also a damn fine work in general.
Kamichu – If you want to see the Japanese culture conveyed properly in a dub, check this one out.
Full Metal Panic – Solid performances from pretty much the entire cast and a couple truly outstanding ones.
Space Pirate Captain Harlock: Endless Odyssey – If you’re familiar with the title character, you can’t go wrong here. A couple spotty performances by minor characters, but mostly a very strong sub.
And most recently, I’ve been picking up the DVDs of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, being the good supporter of the medium that I am and having downloaded fansubs while it was airing. Mostly very solid and almost perfectly captures the feel of the Japanese version.
I could list more, but I’d have to go rummage through my DVDs to pick some out. Alas, I’m too lazy.
Dont ever watch Naruto dubbed :-\
I usually perfer the fan sub for Elfen Lied, it’s a little more litural and more insightful then the offical ADV.
But yeah the voice acting is pretty bad I perfer the Japanese actors but they’re not really top notch either. Wikipedia credits them as pretty bad too. IGN said they were good.
Inuyahsa
Full Metal Alchemist
Tenchi series (the ones on DVD)
Worst dubs:
Sailor Moon (first two seasons, lots of stuff cut out)
Sonic X (anime voice actors became the game voice actors)
Yu-gi-oh! (stupid 4kids!)
Worst: Bleach and Naurto
The dubs of Elfen Lied and Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex are pretty good, and Hellsing Ultimate is much improved over the 13 episode TV series…
On a contrary note: I’m probably the only person who’ll say this, but I preferred the English dub of Rurouni Kenshin to the Japanese with subs version (GOD Kenshin’s voice in Japanese is so annoying!).
I normally don’t have much of a pblm with dub, but that one was by far the worst I have ever heard!
Also Kannazuki no Miko has a good dub.
inuysha
Full Metal Alchemist
Worst:
Naruto (it is just so horrible, my ear actually hurts while watching it, lol)
Worst:

Agreed! Out of all the dubs, Naruto is the worst, and something that could have been better
Excel Saga (Didn’t see the end and stuff though)
Full Metal Alchemist
Bad Dubs:
One Piece…
and Naruto! Believe it! XD
Bad Dubs:
One Piece…
One Piece’s dub was bad because those crackheads at 4kids raped it, Dont expect Funimation to what 4kids did
I know that. I was talking about One Piece’s 4kids Dub after all, the atrocious rap, those voices….augh the voices….D:
The best dub would be Dragonball
Worst: Sailor Moon
This is one of my favorites, but the dubs just raped everything beyond comprehension. I have never seen anything that changed so much between translation that it was completely unrecognizable, but this one just takes the cake.
Let me start with the DiC dub…
First of all, they cut about ten thousand episodes out… That was just ridiculous. Sailor Moon wasn’t meant to be a show for five-year-olds, but they canned every single episode that had anything derogatory in it. Of course, that’s probably for the best. I would’ve hated to see the editing they would have had to go through.
Now for the names… Amy, Raye, Mina – Ami, Rei, Minako = Just fine… And then we have LITA… WTF? Who names someone Lita? And then there’s the completely retarded name they gave the Dark Kingdom- "Negaverse." What the hell is a Negaverse? Let’s just make up everything we can, yay!
Another thing, no one could ever just "die." Everyone had to disappear or something else. Because people never die, everyone knows that.
Naru: "You’ll have to kill me first!"
Molly: "You’ll have to DESTROY me first!"
I think I was destroyed on the inside a little bit after that one.
Oh, and on the subject of "Molly", what the hell was up with her accent? No one in Japan has that accent…
Oh wait. I forgot. DiC thought they had to completely erase any evidence that the series took place in Japan. They cut out scenes that had any type of Japanese characters on signs or anything. My question is, umm… Why? What was the point?
There was one good thing about the DiC dub. Usagi’s voice in the beginning was spot-on. Too bad that first VA only lasted about 10 episodes and then was replaced by the horrendous Terri Hawks. *throws up*
Now for the Cloverway dub. They at least didn’t cut out every episode that had a bit of violence, and that was a good thing. The thing that killed it for me was the terrible voice acting, namely Usagi’s and Ami’s. They were TERRIBLE! How did the girl who did Usagi’s voice get the job? She sounded like she was choking to death.
Oh, and "This is the most difficult challenge planet power has ever faced." What?! What the hell is planet power?!
One more thing was that Sailor Jupiter’s attack changed with every episode. Her attack name completely changed at random for no reason. I never understood any of this.
Well, that concludes my rant. Here’s a summary- Sailor Moon’s English dub was completely awful. 😀

Woo, welcome to the forums. Anyway, again, let’s hope that Funimation’s English Dub will do better. Or maybe they did dub it, I’m wondering when now, because I’m very non-updating.
But I think I really like the Naruto dub….O.o I mean, from what I’ve seen of it, they kept the openers, all the japanese culture stuff and names..well almost. Gai. None of the VAs really bother me either except for Jiraiya. I’d love to see OP get that kind of treatment this time around.
Oh also, Pokemon is pretty good too. In terms of localization. The show’s crap, but I think it’s localized well. Well, before they changed the VA cast. I guess anytime they keep the openers makes it a great job in my mind.
Prince of Tennis and Thumbelina.
Don’t you just love posts like this where people don’t say whether they think it’s the best or worst?
Why? Volume 2. It ranks up there with the movie in the Ring for sheer evil….only it’s real. There is a demon who sounds just like Foghorn Leghorn. You know, the giant chicken from the old Looney Tunes cartoons, who was based on a parody of an American Southern politician nobody remembers…? *drinks a glass of water*
Think about it, what were they trying to say? That demons are wacky fun cartoon characters like Looney Tunes, so that parents will let their children watch the horrors that follow? That American Southern Politicians are demons from hell?
All of these points are arguable – whether or not you agree says a lot about how jaded you are, but one point can’t be argued with: Foghorn Leghorn trying to sound scary isn’t scary. For that matter, Devilman sounding like a 12 year old trying to sound scary isn’t scary either.
In fact, anyone trying to sound scary isn’t scary, because if they were really scary, they wouldn’t feel the need to prove how scary they are.
I’m willing to bet, that if anything, they’d be trying to reassure you that you’re completely safe…
That said, the only halfway decent dub I’ve seen is Full Metal Alchemist.

4kids doesn’t do Naruto man. Cuz if they did, it would be twice as bad.
I can assure you, it won’t be pretty.
Those of you with sensitive eyes might want to look away. It’s okay, nobody will hold it against you.
Gone yet? Okay, you’re brave. Let’s go together into the darkness…
My favorite dub, of all time…
Robotech.
Sharpening your knives? Allow me to explain, before you shank me.
It hooked me on anime.
That’s right, it was my gateway drug. I was just a kid at the time, living in the bible belt. No rock music. No kissing the opposite sex.
To say it was a revelation would be an understatement…
But here’s where it gets really interesting – it didn’t just hook me. It hooked my mom. Imagine a young woman who thinks hugs before marriage are questionable, and modern music is the devil’s whisper, hooked on the story of alien clones discovering love and music for the first time…
Now you get the power of the dub. One that can’t be seen if you only look at how faithful the writers were to the source material.
Robotech inspired my generation.
More important, it inspired those who raised my generation as well…
Worst: The new dub of Lupin III – bad voice casting and really dire translation.
Best: R.O.D the TV, Chobits, Haibane Renmei.
I fell in love with Patlabor 2 through the English dub and still prefer it to the Japanese version. Miyazaki said that he thought the French dub of Porco Rosso was superior to the Japanese original.
Well, the openings, that’s a hit-and-miss. They only showed two Japanese openings on the anime in Toonami (The Uncut DVD, of course, has all), and the openings were Haruka Kanata and Go!!. They created their own vid for Haruka Kanata and I believe Go was the same, but they extended the length of Haruka Kanata a lot…I didn’t like that at all. I mean, it’s like they’re hyping it or something. And those two openings, they are very common, so bleck. XD
Worst: Desert Punk. Still trying to get the overuse of swearing out of my head.
Don’t you just love posts like this where people don’t say whether they think it’s the best or worst?
The Prince of Tennis voice actors always feel a little flat to me, and some of the voices I just plain dislike, particularly Ryoma’s and Inui’s. The majority of the voices in Thumbelina are sufferable, but the heroine’s ruins the entire movie. She sounds more like an obnoxious little boy with a sore throat than anything else.
Naruto: (watched subbed first, then dubbed)
I absolutely love Rock Lee’s Japanese seiyuu. The English actor isn’t bad, but I’m used to hearing him say certain phrases in a certain way, and the absence of that has the ability to totally change a scene. Gaara’s English voice actor is also fairly good, but it’s just not the same.
Bleach: (watched subbed first, then dubbed)
I’m a huge, huge fan of Hitsugaya’s Japanese voice. It’s grave, throaty, and mature, just like the character himself. I’ve heard SO much bashing of Hitsugaya’s English VA, but that’s only because so many people grew to love Hitsugaya through his seiyuu. The English VA sounds younger, more emotional. I can personally say I dislike this voice, just because he doesn’t sound as serious.
Trigun: (watched dubbed only)
My first anime; I found I’ve never had much of an urge to hear the Japanese voices. I think the dub is fairly good, at least as far as the main characters. That’s really all I need. If I feel a show has a decent-to-good dub, I’m far less inclined to seek out a comparison.
Rurouni Kenshin: (dubbed first, then subbed)
I think both versions have something to offer. I honestly don’t have too much of a preference, although the switch between Soujiro’s English VAs is very, very distracting. Both Kenshins have lovely voices, I think. The OVA voice casting is far inferior, and I must say the Japanese voices are much better than the English ones. But in the TV series, the English one is alright, though it has some rough spots.
The vision of Escaflowne Dub was a travesty. The Naruto Dub is not nearly as bad as people keep saying (YOU try translating "dattebayo", there just isn’t an equivalent in english), and the Bleach dub is also quite good.
The Single worst Dub job I have ever had an experience with was the Macross "Do You Remember Love?" movie. A friend of mine somehow got a hold of a copy of the Japanese English Dub of this movie. It was put together as a teaching aid for college students learning English. Any bad dub that you can imagine (with a few exceptions) pales in comparison to the "Do You Remember Love?" dub.
I haven’t actually seen it, but I’ve heard that "Garzey’s Wing" also has a particularly bad Dub.
And the best dub is Ghost in the Shell (movies and series). Neon Genesis Evangelion also sounds good dubbed
And the best dub is Ghost in the Shell (movies and series). Neon Genesis Evangelion also sounds good dubbed
Are you kidding me? NGE sounds horrible.
I don’t think so (obviously). But that’s because I saw NGE for the first time in english, so to me japanese sounded weird
Well, I don’t like dubs in general, I think original VAs are best kept.
Yep. Definitely one of the worst.
Well, I don’t like dubs in general, I think original VAs are best kept.
You have just forfeited any and all credibility in this discussion.
IMO THE OLD DUB WAS PRETTY GOOD ACTUALLY
THE NEW DUB SUCKS
I PREFER THE JAPANESE NO SUBTITILES TO THE NEW DUB MAN
THOUGH OLD VAS THAT WOULD BE BETTER THAN JAPANESE AND I WOULD BE FOLLOWING IT THROUGH ENGLISH INSTEAD
I HOPE THIS EXPLAINS WHY I LIKE POKEMON
And why would that be? Because I simply feel that it’s best to keep things as they are, if they are better? That is my opinion, and I respect anyone else’s as well.
I don’t mean that as a slight against you. Merely an observation.
I don’t mean that as a slight against you. Merely an observation.
I will still watch dubbed stuff sometimes, but I was merely saying that generally I prefer original voice acting. Once in a while, a good dub will come, and I’ll watch that too, but again, that doesn’t happen very much (in my opinion).
When Fist of the North Star was re-released on DVD, did John Vickery come back and do the voice of Kenshiro? Because I’ve yet to watch it. And I’m talking about the old FotNS series, not the new one with all the CG that came out a few years back.
Anyway, as to the actual topic, My favorite Dubs are:
DBZ (This should produce some "WOW YOU R TEH DUMB" yelling in my direction)
Yu Yu Hakusho – Say what you will about the series itself, but the sub is rather dull. I don’t know what the Japanese think of ‘Punks’ but all I’ve ever seen/read the Japanese version of Yusuke do or say is "Bastard" every once and awhile. The Dub adds true character to Yusuke and Kuwabara, and quirky things like strange accents on Villains. (read: Chu, the aussie suiken user, and Jin, with the most impossible to understand Irish accent.)
Most people spit on companies like Funimation, but really they should be praised for the work they actually put into some of their works. I hear people are quite pleased with the Fruits Basket dub, though I’ve never actually seen it myself.
My all time favorite would probably be FLCL. Excellent translation and dubbing. All around excellent show.
As to worst dub? Well…
Evangelion: I suppose you could pass this one by as being old, before companies like Funimation popped up who really cared about Voice Acting, but I don’t buy it. I dont like Evangelion much, and part of it is the shoddy dubbing.
Detective Conan: Or, in the US, Case Closed. I actually enjoy this show, but I really, really hate it when a Dub company takes it upon themselves to translate an opening song. It. Just. Doesnt. Work. Funimation is the number one, if not only, company that does this. The Dub itself isnt too horrible, but that opening song makes me cringe. Both of the ones I have seen, anyway.
The Akira that came out on DVD,
Directors cut my a55……

Oh yeah, that too.
The Akira that came out on DVD,

The only voice I didn’t really like was Tetsuo’s, a little too youthful to an annoying degree
ghost in the shell is one of my favourites
I own the original japanese and english streamline titles. And that dub seemed a little better. The new title seems to have completly new lines of dialogue in some places… just strange cause i’ve watched the originals over 17billion times,
Bleach, if only for Hanataro and Chad’s voices. ^^
Worst.. hmm.. well for Gundam SEED, I really dont like Athrun’s voice at all. And while the rest of the characters were pretty decently voiced over.. if such an important character has a voice I dislike, it sort of ruins it all for me. :/
I hate One Piece’s dub. Luffy’s voice grates so much on my nerves. D:
Other than that I cant think of much though. Prolly a good thing xD
Fullmetal Alchemist, Ghost in the Shell: S.A.C, and Gundam Wing (I’m only the second person on here who agrees ^_^).
Worst:
+Sailor Moon (Cloverway). Even worse than the DiC travesty as far as voice acting goes.
+Revolutionary Girl Utena
+Street Fighter II
Runners Up:
Death Note. I can stand Ryuuk’s voice, and that’s about it.
Back to the topic, though. I already put up my best and worst, but I wish to make a bigger list.
Best:
Full Metal Alchemist (anime and movie)
Ghost in the Shell: SAC
Vision of Escaflowne (I love this anime so much)
Worst:
Sailor Moon (by anyone, it still sucks balls)
Spider Riders (wasn’t a good show to begin with, but 4Kids found a way to make it WAY worse)
One Piece (again, 4Kids is abysmal with this)
I have to say this: I miss the days where blood and good violence (like in Batman: TAS) wasn’t restricted to shows with the disclaimer "Viewer discretion is advised". Stupid soccer moms…
My favorite anime is Slayers, and the dubs are kinda….. yea but they grow on you 😛
worst dub? good question
why is because the english language actually dubs over it well with the source material. I believe these characters could and possible should be speaking english.
Samurai champloo is dubbed well but I believe alot of jokes are lost in translation because of how the japanese language works.
Waitdaminute…yer talkin’ about the t.v. series…from the ’80s…with all those great songs (still hated Minmei:-P )…that influenced a whole generation of American youth and proved once and for all that ‘cartoons’ don’t have to be just for kids…
…and is still going strong over 20yrs later…
…THAT Robotech???
:eye: I can’t even say ‘to each his/her own’ on that one, lol
-Oh, and just to add to the list:
Best – Nausicaa (a.k.a. "Warriors of the Wind"); I actually prefer the Eng Dub of this, which is insane, but it’s worth it just for the voice work of the Old Woman; hi-larious!
Worst – and I love this (original, not the ‘new’ one) Series, so I guess that’s also why I was SOOOO disappointed in the dub (or should I say D-oh!): Dangaio(h). Oh, how the gods will lament this travesty of english-language voice over work, with a gnashing of teeth & beating of breast, woe unto those how approved its creation, WOE!!! :notgood:
Worst Dub: Sonic The Hedgehog OAV
Worst Dub: Fullmetal Alchemist, I’ve heard worse, but this one sticks out to me the most. I couldn’t stand Ed’s voice… I never really heard anyone else, so it might actually be better than I think
Death Note (Light has the coolest voice.)
Avatar: the Last Airbender (Not quite an anime. I know.)
Samurai Champloo (Didn’t see any errors.)
Bleach (So far so good.)
Trigun (Who wouldn’t love Johnny Yong Bosch?)
Worst Dubbed:
Mirage of Blaze (Don’t…Don’t EVER watch it. The voices are either too big or too small.)
Medium Dubbed: (‘Cause there are some that go mid-way)
Blood+ (Has a decent amount of talent in picking voice actors, but some like RIKU shouldn’t be voiced at all. If you can’t say anything pleasing to the ears, don’t say anything at all.)
Naruto (Where did they find Orochimaru? In the beginning, I hated Naruto’s voice. I’m okay with it now, but I’m still recovering.)
Because it fits the voice, most dubs today do a very good job and people are just elitist fucks when it comes to what they watch.
If you want bad dubs, go back the original ones on VHS in the late 1980s like Crying Freeman, or some Hentai’s that are put out. Bible Black is bad, but compaire it to the other shit that’s on the market, it makes it look godle
Why are you getting an attitude or calling people elitists for watching things the way they prefer to watch stuff?
Most action anime gets a good to decent job done, as does the high budget stuff, but when it comes to more "cutesy" stuff, I’ve never seen a dub I enjoyed. If other people like it, that’s awesome for them, but I’m sure not going to watch something that grates on me when I can switch out an annoying voice for a really endearing one.
I do wish more stuff would get subbed in the way of really good fansubs, with notes when it comes to cultural stuff so that the translation can stay as close as possible. I’d rather have a reference to an old Japanese tv show explained to me than have the joke changed to something else. I get why they do that with dubs, but it seems like it’d fit really well into subtitled dvds.
ps death note ftw
ps death note ftw
I find the logic of that argument similarly flawed. Simply declaring a dub is unlistenable just because of a character’s voice is anything but a legitimate argument. Now granted if it seems like an odd choice to the character it’s understandable, but if the acting is there, then its not so problematic. I know people have preferences, but sometimes this just goes too far. I’ve found that half of the dubs I’ve heard people say are "unlistenable" are not bad at all and that dubs which people say are good are not so much so. So you really can’t take any of these arguments seriously.
-Jon T.
People should watch whichever one they enjoy the most. I can’t believe people are actually debating this. =/

MIRAGE OF BLAZE KICKED MAJOR ASS!!!(NAOE RULEZ!!)
They kept every last damn thing from the novels and the manga IN THE SHOW!!!! its funny how people dislike dubs that kept all culture and original dialogue
I have to admit Takaya was annoying
heres some of his dialouge that makes it funny with his american voice actor:
"you bastard"
"damn you to hell"
"NAOE!!!"
" I wanted those cigarettes"
"…And Ill knock his teeth out so he can’t eat"
ROTFLOL!!!!!!XD
but NAOE ROCKED!!!!
I grew used to it after a bit, but in the end the original Japanese is funnier anyhow.
And I love the Death Note dub. The evil laughs by the Japanese voice actors scared the bajeebus out of me. T__T
Worst: Sailormoon, definately. But what can you expect from one of the first mainstream animes out there (besides Astroboy and Speed Racer)
For the Worst? Naruto. I can’t stand his voice.
Its been finished ever since… 2005.
Best Dubs Ever –
Lupin III
Ranma 1/2
Witch Hunter Robin
Wolf’s Rain
Cowboy Bebop
Worst Dubs Ever –
Naruto
Azumanga Daioh (my favorite anime, but SUBS ONLY!!!)
By the way, I feel I must say, after seeing some of the things people have been saying, that the following anime have good dubs. Maybe not the best, but not bad at all:
Sailor Moon
FLCL
Gundam Wing
Inuyasha
Chobits
Negima
Kare Kano
Tenchi Muyo
What!! In English, for real? I’ll check it out.
Actually, it isn’t. There are certain universal standards of quality that can be applied to nearly everything. Whether you recognize them or not doesn’t change that.
Desert Punk
Fullmetal Alchemist
Inu-Yasha
Full Metal Panic
Gundam Wing
Gundam 0083
Eureka 7
Ghost in the Shell: SAC
Black Lagoon
Naruto (im gonna recieve flak for this but in all honesty, its not that bad.)
Cowboy Bebop
Outlaw Star
The Big O
FLCL
Blue Gender
The Worst
Dragonball Z
Cardcaptor Sakura
One Piece (Before funimation took over)
Silent Mobius
Macross (the new adv dub. for some reason i think the robotech dub is better)
1. Inuyasha
2. Full Metal Alchemist
3. Fushigi Yuugi
4. FLCL
Worst:
1. Ceres Celestial Legend
I haven’t watched many dubbed animes, but these are what I can remember watching.
Sailor Moon is so horrific to me that I don’t care what the original sounded like. Poke’mon wasn’t very good, and Sonic X is probably my worst.
Love Hina? Dear God That Was Awful!
Worst: HOMG SAILOR MOON. Usagi’s voice was terrible. Ugh.
but Persona 3 has one of the best dubs I’ve ever heard.
The worst dubbed anime is anything dubbed by 4Kids Entertainment. They just stink at dubbing. Only once or twice have they kept anything intact, which is very rare.
For the people saying the Sailor Moon dub is the worst, I have to disagree. I liked some of the background music compared to the Japanese (the DiC dubbed seasons anyway). As for the Cloverway dubbed seasons (S and SuperS) although they tried to keep most of the story intact, and the music intact, I have to agree that Usagi’s voice was horrible.
The best will always be Cowboy Bebop, even the french guys on the movie were good!
worst dubs? its a tie between spain and USA, the two are fighting HARD to obtain the title of worst dub.
they absolutely fail to capture the essence of the jokes…due to regionalization i suppose (is that a word?)….so i dunno if this can really be remedied any other way besides viewing the subs
It’s really not that relevant to this though, since when it comes to licensed stuff, things hardly ever get explanations included (I do see it a lot with manga, though).
As for the worst. It’d probably have to be Yu-Gi-Oh.
– At least 1/2 of the Miyazaki films.
Worst:
– Robotech…even though I loved the show and I still do to this day.
– Naruto, especially while he’s still a kid.
Worst? Don’t get me started on 4Kids… "Would you like a sandwich?" "IT’S A FARKING RICE BALL!!"
:edit: I also agree with IDX Rider’s comment about Initial D, there was no need to change the music… Half of the appeal of the show was the chirpy Eurobeat. If I wanted to listen to Hip Hop coming from cars I’d go hang out at the local McDonald’s carpark.
Giant Robo. Perfect, a well balanced all around good performance.
Worst Dub
Giant Robo. When I finally noticed they had put the series out on DVD, as VHS was the only available media for sometime I jumped and purchased the whole set. I sit down to watch and "WTF" is all I can say to how bad the dub was. I’m thinking how can I save this and thank god deep in the menus I find the origional dub, pulled my all time fav series out of the fire there.
i freaking laugh every time i think about it
Worst-Utena- who had heard can’t forget…
Hilariously bad.
lol Well Goku may not be a 10 year old girl, but Onizuka was definitely a Dirty old man in the making… at least in the manga, I never saw the anime 😀
Good: Naruto (jap), Eva (jap), Full metal alchemist (both), Full metal panic (both),Trigun (eng.), Samurai 7 (both) and gundam Seed and some of the 0080th MS team, and some of the later gundams. their are others but i tend to be snooty about dubbing since i have been watching them since the 80’s and have seen the acting go from okish to amazing in some cases.

I thought the voice acting on Evangelion was pretty good actually.
everybody watches it cause of the good dub, duh.
Bleach is good, and FLCL is waay better in eng.
Best dubs? I thought Chobits was good, Cowboy Bebop was very good, and I reallyenjoyed Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi, some people were put off by the southern accents, but as someone pointed out earlier in the topic, the southern american accent is the western equivalent of the osaka dialect used in the original version. Alos, they handled the localisation really well, only changing cultural references where there waslittle chance of them being understood, and the equivalent references they made were well chosen and phrased in general.
Oh no, I still have my list.
Best dubs go to Digimon, Trinity Blood, and Samurai Pizza Cats.
Worst dub period goes to Card CAPTORS. What a disgrace
Maybe you should try actually, you know, watching a few shows dubbed before you make dumb claims like that. What you’re saying may have been true 10+ years ago, but dubs have come a long way since then, and most high-profile shows that are released now tend to be competent, with a few even being noticeably better than the Japanese counterparts.
Theres a hell of a lot more, I just can’t think of any off the top of my head.
I may be biased by saying Naruto’s dub is crap, but it is. Not that I hate the show (which I do, most overrated anime series of this century), but why is the titular character yelling ALL THE TIME? What’s he SO mad about that he’s on a constant attempt to outline it?

I support you with that. Naruto & Bleach are the worst dubs (for me) that i ever hear.
The voices just sound… ankward.
Full Metal Alchemist wasn’t bad at all.
Neither was FFVII: Advent Children.
I can’t say I like most dubs otherwise.
Haaaates:
Descendants of Darkness [ Muraki had the NERDIEST voice. WTF. ]
Cardcaptor Sakura [ PARDON ME. Cardcaptors, I suppose. D< ]
Too many others to list, that was just the big one. xx ;
Full Metal Alchemist wasn’t bad at all.
Neither was FFVII: Advent Children.
I fucking lol’d. A lot.
The voices just sound… ankward.
The Naruto dub tends to annoy me to the point where I wonder why I watch it. Bleach, not so much. The only times I really hate Bleach is when a character gets like a whole minute to talk to themself and it feels like they go on for eternity. D=
Cowboy Bebop
Samurai Champloo
Fullmetal Alchemist
Hellsing
Worst:
Tenjo Tenge (just awful)
Naruto
One Piece
and probably a few more i just cant think right now, honestly though dont ever watch the dubbed version of Tenjo Tenge *shudders just thinking about it*
The anime Cybersix had a REALLY good dub job, as it was actually made in conjunction by Canadian and Japanese animators. It translates equally well between English and Japanese, but you’d be hard-pressed to find a Japanese version.
I think that one is the only one where I prefer the dubbed…
And I was preety happy with Advant Children…
Dragonball Z, the voice acting is pretty cheesey, but I have heard some of the original Japanese and tbh I prefer hearing "KAMEHAMEHAAA….TIMES FOUR!!" in English.
FMA was good too, the voices weren’t annoying, I actually watched half the series in English before being forced to switch to subs, which was quite weird to get used to for the first couple of episodes.
Bad dubs: Bleach. My god some of the voices, they’re terrible, I think the worst has to go to Inoue though, she is just so high pitched and her voice is just plain annoying.
I wasn’t even considering watching it in English anyway after having seen 140+ episodes before even discovering there’s actually a dub out there, but still, I suppose it’s amusing just to see how bad it gets when you meet more of the characters. Japanese ftw.
I also hate how they dub openings…
Like Haruhi Suzumiya was terrible… Boken Desho Desho was so good in Japanese…
And for Magic Knights Rayearth…
It was slaughtered…
So bad…
Youtube has alot… and people even try to make their own!
Ouran’s Sakura Kiss opening is constantly being butchered!
I also hate how they dub openings…
Like Haruhi Suzumiya was terrible… Boken Desho Desho was so good in Japanese…
Unless you watched something other than the English version, this is a really dumb claim. In the English dub, only the insert songs in episode 13 were changed. The opening and ending stayed the same.
Worst: CardCaptor Sakura/Naruto (BELIEVE IT!)
Worst: CardCaptor Sakura/Naruto (BELIEVE IT!)
Gotta agree with you on the Naruto thing. I’m naturally biased against Naruto anyways cause it’s the utmost overrated thing since Gak. But why is Naruto yelling ALL THE TIME!!!
Cowboy Bebop
Black Lagoon
Ranma 1/2 (before Richard Cocks)
Hellsing Ultimate
Gundam Wing
Worst:
EVERYTHING AND ANYTHING THAT HAS MICHELLE RUFF, JOHNNY YONG BOSCH, AND STEPHENIE SHEH IN IT!!!
As in The Melancholy, Naruto, Bleach, and any other shitty shonen trash.
Also, Fist of the North Star was BADDDDDDDD, one of my favourite series ever has a horrid, horrid English dub (LEX LANG ALERT!) Also, Spike Speigal=/= Shin. EVER!
Also, id like to say, Wendee Lee is too fucking old to be playing kids. How does she find work for this shit?
Best:
1. Fullmetal Alchemist ~ Pretty much the pedigree: the standard that all dubs should follow. The actors took the material seriously and most importantly – sounded like they had fun doing it.
2. Cowboy Bebop ~ Perfect choices for the characters – I couldn’t imagine them having any other voices. Blum is a master.
3. Excel Saga ~ Another top notch effort on the part of a cast that took the job seriously but still had a great time – Hell – the original English VO for Excel blew out her vocal cords during taping and they had to replace her! PAIN FOR ART!
4. Berserk ~ I couldn’t imagine this dark medieval fantasy in Japanese.
5. Witchblade ~ Misane sounds hotter moaning with pleasure in English than she does in Japanese. Plus – there were a few lines in English that had were funny as Hell: “What the crap?!” and “What, this douche bag?” Plus – the other characters started calling Misane “Melanie” on account of her huge breasts. Being an English speaker – this running joke translates better than others.
James / Meowth from Pokemon: I LOVE these two. Just to hear these two talk was the only reason I would ever watch Pokemon. Shame that Adam Blaustein got a sex change and couldn’t do Meowth anymore. ( Also the reason he couldn’t do Lezard in Valkyrie Profile 2 ::cry:: )
Worse:
I can always find merit with dubs – but there are those that are notoriously bad – people have already pointed them out. Here are a few roles that come to mind …
Keifer Sutherland as Ross Syllabus in Armitage III: Wow Keifer – you were hard up for cash pre-24 eh? Once more with feeling please.
Most of the cast of .hack//sign except Sora: Horrible attempt. I love .hack and they pissed all over it. Though – the guy that did Sora was pretty damn good.
Black Lagoon, Cowboy Bebop, Berserk.
Worst Dubs?
Chrono Crusade, One Piece, Naruto.
All I can think of right now.
Space Battleship Yamato
Worst
Robotech (only after I saw Macross)
Best dubs:
#5: Blood + (Expecially after I heared David in Japanese…)
#4: Full Metal Alchemist
#3: La Blue Girl
#2: Naruto
#1: Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu!
Worst Dubs:
#5: Sailor Moon (still ok, but…)
#4: Amazonga Daioh (Even Luci Christan couldn’t save that one)
#3: Cardcaptors (The way it was writen… that’s all)
#2: Bible Black
#1: Ah! My Goddess: Flights of Fancy (You knew ADV was going to screw that up)
Dubs that suck, but in a good way:
#5: Exel Saga
#4: Bleach
#3: Kisaku the Leach
#2: Super Milk Chan
#1: Ghost Stories
Worst dubs: gundam wing…. i can’t think of anything worse than that one.
A dub that really disappointed me was Air. The voice acting wasn’t THAT terrible but it just didn’t fit with the characters. There wasn’t that intense emotion I felt when the anime tells the story in Japanese than in English but I still cried in both.
I never thought Sailor Moon or Pokemon to be really bad dubs. Probably because I grew up watching the English version. Though I can point out thier silly mistakes like "Nothing beats a jelly-filled doughnut" when its a riceball in Brocks hand; or the infamous "sandwich" replacements -.- Though the english version of pokemon has quite alot of changes that it confuses me when I watch the Japanese version.
Although I love the story plot and other characters. Main character’s voice is still horrible.
Cowboy Bebop
GITS: SAC + 2nd Gig
Last Exile
Worst:
Slayers
Fruits Basket
Inuyasha
Cowboy Bebop
The Worst
Love Hina
I dont think you should talk
The Worst?…. Love Hina. The dub butchered an already bad anime adaptation to a spectacular manga.
The Worst?…. Love Hina. The dub butchered an already bad anime adaptation to a spectacular manga.
Ooh I couldn’t agree more ! "an already bad anime adaptation" It was pretty bad ; ; actually it was the worst >_<
And even as I say that, I actually watched it with my little sister yesterday. I may think it’s bad but she seems to like it. It probably wouldn’t have been so bad if they had kept it true to the spirit of the manga (And I don’t mean the ecchi stuff), had a better dub cast (I swear, the characters in the dub all sound like they don’t even have a GED! And they want to get into Tokyo U?), and didn’t trail off into places it shouldn’t have. I could go on and on about it.
LOL here’s the worst part though >_> I own it >_<
I bought it before I watched it lol last time I do that
Worst dub ever to come from an anime, EVER.
DBZ – King cold.
I bought it before I watched it lol last time I do that
Well I do too… sorta 😛
I bought a not-so-legal version of it on ebay so it’s not a HUGE loss I suppose…
-Cowboy Bebop
-Ghost in the shell: SAC (season 1 and 2)
-Azumanga Daioh
-School rumble (Tenma’s voice is spot on and is better than her japanese counterpart; same deal with Harima)
-Shin Chan
I’m not going to bother listing bad dubs, there too many.
Ghost in the Shell:SAC (gigs 1 & 2 and Solid State Society
Ninja Scroll: The Series
Howl’s Moving Castle
Bad dubs for me were:
Appleseed (Exmachina was a lot better)
Castle of Cagliostro
Naruto (Where did they find Orochimaru? In the beginning, I hated Naruto’s voice. I’m okay with it now, but I’m still recovering.)
haha. I havent heard the naruto dub yet, but Orochimarus voice fit so much in the original. It was so freaky/pervy and i dont know what to expect. I think i’m going to check it out now, just for the lulz.
…How can people like the American dub of Advent Children? Granted, the movie itself was shitty, but to like the American dub on top of that?
Cowboy Bebop Obviously.
Baccano’s Dub is fantastic. As is Mushi-Shi, Gurren Lagann, DeathNote, One Piece (FUNi), and Pani Poni Dash. All of those are fantastic.
I believe that the quality of Dubs now-a-days have gotten much better. But there are always some sub-par ones.
New York (4Kids & CPM) spits out crap most of the time (original One Piece, Yu-Gi-Oh, Slayers) (although I really did enjoy the original Pokemon dub).
Vancouver (Ocean Group) is hit and miss with dubs. Death Note was ok, but they produce lots of unsavory stuff too.
And most everything else comes out of LA…and is CRAP frankly. Most is done through Bang-Zoom and Viz. Even their best cast dub, Gurren Lagann, truly makes the ears bleed compared to the Japanese (I swear my friend and I couldn’t bear to watch more than an episode or so of it). Naruto’s dub is horrid. Bleach’s is just as bad. And everything else from there is down-hill from that. The only exception are a few older titles (Cowboy Bebop mainly).
So next time you look at a dub, look at the label on the box, the director, and the cast so you can determine the company and the city you’ll be hearing.
Cowboy Bebop
FLCL
Ghost in the Shell both SAC and the movie
Berserk, if only for the outtakes
Trigun
I DO think that most of the time the original Japanese voice work is best but that doesn???t mean the English dubs can???t have a certain charm to them. Like Tenchi, pretty cornball but even without nostalgia it???s still charming.
Or like how English Gendo is actually more interesting and nuanced and how Misato???s actress did improve as the show went on.
And then there???s Kenshin, the dub is often way to cheesy at times but the fact that Kenshin sounds like a girl in Japanese pretty much kills the hole Jekyll/Hyde aspect of him.
As for what I think has the best english voice cast it’s got to be FLCL.
Cowboy Bebop
Tenchi Muyo
Outlaw Star
Crest/Banner of the Stars
——–IDK——–
Crest/Banner of the Stars
You’re insane. The dub on that show was unbearably bad.
Wasn’t the voice for the space elf girl the same as Dorthy R. Wainwright’s?
Maybe it’s just nostalgia or my inner fanboy for the series.
Same goes for ‘Escaflowne’.
Eureka 7
Cowboy Bebop
!!
Specifying: They’re the best!
Azumanga Daio’
Sonic X
Ouran High School Host Club
Advent Children
Good ones:
The OLD pokemon episodes
Worst would have to be Neon Genesis Evangelion. There’s probably one with dubbing I liked less, but that’s the one I can think of at the moment that had a dub that I didn’t like.
Honestly, I haven’t watched much dubbed anime, or anime in general. =/
dubber’s voice was soooo GAY
Best Dubs.. Trigun, Witch Hunter Robin, Wolf’s Rain, Cowboy Bebop, Miyazaki’s films.. um..I’ll get back to you on that.
Best:Final Fantasy: Spirits Within, Naruto, Fruits Baskets
Ah My Goddess: I dont like the OVA that much but I can slightly tolerate the TV one. But I like the Japanese more.
Good: I actually like the dub of Princess Mononoke
Bad: Azumanga Daioh (Osaka’s accent and the misconception of English and Japanese thingy)
4Kids anime dubs – Yu-Gi-Oh, Pokemon, Mew Mew Power etc.
Cardcaptors – Second worst dub next to Sailor Moon (BTW both animes were dubbed by Canadians) – Removed episodes, pronounciation changes (eg. Sakura to SaKUra and Kero-chan to KEE-roh lol), bad voices. I loved Kero-chan’s Osaka-ben! I hate the guy who voice Dragon Booster because he voiced KEE-roh *pukes* Oh and terrible dialogue changes
Sailor Moon – Reason (coming from a Sailor Moon fan): as mentioned in the quote below – There were 200 eps in the original so basically over 30 episodes were out (including the entire Stars)
Those reasons why Sailor Moon English Adaptation is the worst dub ever!
PS DONT GET ME STARTED ON THE INFAMOUS ‘DAY OF DESTINY’ episode, which proves that Sailor Moon English dub is Horrendous and terrible
Sgt. Frog
Crayon Shin-chan
Baccano!
Monster
Cowboy Bebop
Worst:
Suzumiya Haruhi
Also, I think the Sailor Moon dub VOICES were great. They just had a shitty script to work with because loledits.
It’d be awesome if they could do an uncut redub with the VAs. Kinda like DBZ has done a million times.
The GiTS SaC dub. ’nuff said.
Yup.
Best :
Bleach (it’s actually pretty good)
Ah My Goddess!
Initial D (it’s alright)
DearS
Girl’s Bravo
Worst :
Naruto

Initial D (it’s alright)
DearS

Worst :
Naruto
You should check out Naruto Abridged, they made Naruto a smoker and David Bowie is in it too.
Pretty Cure (amazingly faithful)
Cowboy Bebop
Ghost in the Shell
Worst:
Any 4Kids (APART from Pokemon, I have sympathy for that)
Naruto
Cardcaptors (saKOOOOOrah LOL)
Sailor Moon (DiC version at least, no Cloverway episodes in the UK)
Worst: the rest, lol
as far as English dubs
When I looked at the cast-list, one of those actors was none other than Jason Isaacs (best known for playing Lucius Malfoy in the HP films). Classy!
Mind you, they use well-known film/tv actors to dub most of the Ghibli films and a lot of those dubs have been sucky anyway. So it’s no guarantee.
Samurai Champloo
Cowboy Bebop
Wolf’s Rain
Outlaw Star
Hellsing
Hellsing Ultimate
Ghost In The Shell: Stand Alone Complex
FLCL
Scrapped Princess
Worst Dubs:
Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon
Duel Masters
Voltron
One Piece
worst- Sailor Moon season 1 and 2, anything 4Kids
-Cowboy Bebop
-Full Metal Panic
-Gundam Wing
-Black Lagoon
-Fafner
Worst Dubs(These I Stick to Only Watching in Subs)
-Bubblegum Crisis-Love the Anime, hate the dub
-Crest of the Stars-Horribly voiced, yet shows some improvement when the dub studio works on Banner of the Stars.
-Sailor Moon
-Zeta Gundam
-Robotech
Worst would be anything by 4kids (‘cept Pokemon) and Sailor Moon.
They changed about four voices for the better. Plus, the acting has drastically improved. Dragon Ball Z Kai is hardly the worst Anime dub.
For some reason, I couldn’t find a good sub either, so I just stopped watching it.
I’m willing to post this one.
Digimon season 1 LEGENDARY finnish dub, that they used for half of the season before the whole team changed.
Episode 1/ Part 1 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ExlsVE6LzRI)
Episode 12/ Part 1 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CG3Xn0O4-gg) (<- I suggest you guys watching the cry scene at 2:00 and the part where they’ve having fun at 4:28)
Episode 25/ Part 2 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fKt1DIiT0Ss)
Are you a no lifer? Go ahead and watch the whole season at YouTube.com! =D
I could list these for whole night (all being finnish dubs)
but since I have some memories with them I let you guys find out the ones you hate yourself.
Just to hint: Check the OLD finnish dubs.
The ones we have on different series are pretty OK, though there still are LOT of the bad ones too.
Well? Opinnions? What country wins?
For some reason, I couldn’t find a good sub either, so I just stopped watching it.
Why weren’t you able to use the official subtitles?
Best dub? Vision of Escaflowne. That anime just rocked, and still is one of my old favorites.
I agree with, Vision of Escaflowne was the best dub ever and so was the movie version of it too
Cowboy Bebop
Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya
Code Geass
Darker than Black
Bleach
As for the worst, for me, aside from some obvious 4Kids offenders it’s usually only one or two character voices that end up annoying me whereas the rest of the cast can be great. So the worst character voices for me are:
Naruto – Naruto (He does get better in Shippuden, but there’s no denying how much of a turn off this was for me when I first saw the series in english)
Pani Poni Dash – Himeko (Maho?)
Bleach – Kon
Death Note – Misa
Digimon (Seasons 1 and 2) – Mimi
———- Post added 02-26-2011 at 12:04 AM ———- Previous post was 02-25-2011 at 11:55 PM ———-
Couple to add:
Best: Durarara!! – Gotta love JYB’s performance in this one.
Worst: Soul Eater – Black Star (90% of the time he sucks balls)
FMA/FMAB – Alphonse
Noir
Madlax
Kishin corps
Tenchi muyo
Gundam
Gundam 08th ms team
Ex-driver
Area 88
Orguss 2
bad dubs
sakura wars
dragon ball z
Huruhi Suzumiya
Best: Hmm, can’t really judge Cowboy Bebop because I only saw the last six episodes. I would have to say Fullmetal. They do an awesome job. Oh and Kuroshitsuji. I just love the dubs!
My choice for worst would probably be Bleach, only watched till episode 60 or something and it sucked!
My choice for worst would probably be Bleach, only watched till episode 60 or something and it sucked!
Dragon Ball Z had a great dub but Bleach doesn’t? That makes no sense.
Anyway, the best dub I have ever seen was Cowboy Bebop though that’s the answer for many people that I know. Many would argue that it’s better than the original version and I would have to agree with them. The worst dub? I would go with the standard 4Kids One Piece but I’m going to give them a break and go with Sailor Moon just because I can’t think of a good enough example at the moment.
Worst would be salior Moon (Usagi sounds as though she’s aged by fifty years) and the "other" Cardcaptors dub (Not the Animax asia one, that was pretty good)
One Piece
Death Note
Ninja Nonsense
Code Geass
Fullmetal Alchemist
———- Post added at 05:48 PM ———- Previous post was at 05:48 PM ———-
Best:
One Piece
Death Note
Ninja Nonsense
Code Geass
Fullmetal Alchemist
Midori no Hibi – The voices are perfect for every character.
Saishū Heiki Kanojo: Another Love Song – Mizuki’s voice is strong and beautiful but it doesn’t sound like a lesbian, perfect.
Worst:
Bishōjo Senshi Sailormoon – Thanks to DIC (english dub) a lot of people hate the anime.
Ojamajo Doremi – They talk like dwarves or something similar, I have to watch it in other language (except english).
Papa to Kiss in the Dark – Mira’s voice is annoying but his "Oh, mmmh!" sounds so real and gay that everyone can forgive the voice actor…
Tokyo Mew Mew – The only voice that I liked is Lettuce’s, I can’t stand Ichigo: terrible character, terrbile voice.
For some reason, I couldn’t find a good sub either, so I just stopped watching it.
What’s wrong with the official one? I prefer the manga anyway. I don’t hate all the voices, but Osaka’s and Chiyo’s drive me batty. I do love Yukari, though. And Nyamo. But I love both Luci and Monica, so that’s that. 🙂 The Sailor Moon and InuYasha dubs are pretty terrible (although I do like Richard Ian Cox). I’m also not a huge fan of the Please Twins dub.
Best, I’d say Fullmetal Alchemist (although not a big Al fan in either one. Kinda want to punch both of them when they whine ‘BROOOOOTHER’) or Fruits Basket. I don’t like the way they translated some things, but the voices are genius. Kenshin wasn’t too shabby either.
Digimon: Data Squad (Well, only the Digivolution music)
Yu-Gi-Oh!
Worst:
GaoGaiGar
Best?
Gundam Seed
Inuyasha
Full Metal Alchemist
Worst?
Blue Water dubs
Gundam Zeta
Dragon Ball
Dragon Ball GT with it’s bad transition from Ocean Dragon ball Z to Blue Water Dragon Ball GT
Nightmares
So many I can’t remember since it’s been years.
– Cowboy Bebop
– Death Note (L’s voice is better than in japanese)
– Full Metal Alchemist (way better than the japanese)
– The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya (Kyon is voiced by Crispin Freeman! Fav voice actor!)
– Howl’s Moving Castle (love Howl’s voice especially)
Worst:
– Laputa Castle in the Sky (I can’t stand Pazu’s voice! He’s supposed to be a kid not a grown man!!).
Also I can’t stand pretty much all of the Ghibli dubs, none of the voices fit the characters.
– Elfen Lied is horrid too
– Naruto (except Itachi, ’cause he’s voiced by Crispin Freeman! Fav voice actor!)
Also Millennium Actress, Steins Gate, Origin: Spirits of the Past (the whole anime was pretty crap anyway), Great Teacher Onizuka…
Worst: Street Fighter II V
