Returning To FFXI

Hi, i used to play FFXI well…hmm lets see…around 3 years ago..and well, i’m going to buy it again and start playing within 1 or 2 weeks hopefully and i was wondering if anybody would help me out abit when i join, even someone just to talk to in-game would be nice.

(Used to be Cybershark, 44 WHM/22 SMN TaruTaru on Asura server)

Also may i add, possibly a server with a cheaper AH than Asura used to be :S, it was killing me!

Well i managed to nab some cash and i bought it today…got rise of zilart and chains of promethia…

Firstly, welcome back to FFXI! Some people may mock you, but the game has been greatly altered over the last couple of years, which has helped keep it interesting and fresh.

A recent update to FFXI altered the character creation process, in that you can now select whatever server you wish to play on without a World Pass. At the moment, this only applies to new characters created – there is no means of switching an existing character to a new server, although Square Enix is apparently planning on introducing the ability to ‘world shift’ in a future update too.

If you decide to play on Midgardsormr (the server I play on), I could give you a pearl to my linkshell if you want one too. Send me a /tell in game if you’re interested (my character details are in my sig).

As far as the economy is concerned, I wouldn’t be too worried about AH prices for the moment – FFXI’s economy on all servers is in the grips of a major Depression at the moment, which means items that used to be ridicuosly expensive are now far more affordable, although the other side of the coin means it is now far harder to make a living off the proceeds of farming, fishing and synthing.

I’d also reccomend if you can find it to purchase the third expansion pack Treasures of Aht Urhgan (I presume you’re playing the PC version). This adds the new eastern Empire of Aht Urhgan to the game, along with the new Puppetmaster, Corsair and Blue Mage Jobs and many other new additions. It is well worth the money, although you can still play FFXI without it.
