Title: ActRaiser 2
Developer: Quintet
Publisher: Enix
Platform: Super NES
Composer: Yuzo Koshiro

ActRaiser 2 is a game that Enix and Quintet aren’t quite proud of. Complicated with following on the heels of its revolutionary predecessor and stripped of the simulation mode, the sequel sadly fell in the shadows. It was also harshly criticized for being too difficult–especially where the play control was concerned. In spite of this game’s unfortunate reputation as an inferior sequel, I have found it to be a beautiful and challenging (although unforgivingly frustrating at times) action game in its own right, and the musical score is just as gorgeous–it is Yuzo Koshiro, after all. Regrettably, a soundtrack was never officially produced, perhaps because of the game’s lackluster reception. Well, someone has finally risen to the task. All the tunes have been given my usual reverb treatment, but notes about the recording should be made–fourteen of the fifteen tracks were recorded by me on my CD-R machine; one of the tracks, "Tanzra Returns" is an SPC file from SNES Music (http://www.snesmusic.org/). There was no way to record this song from the game sans sound effects, so finding a clean, unbotched file made it easier to edit.

Enjoy!
