Well we should know how the starters of pokemon diamond and pearl are like, so tell me you will you pick?

i hate stupid looking starters. it just makes it harder to pick. i’d have to look at their evolutions to make a final descision. there’s no way i’m having stupid looking pokemon. style and looks is everything to me as that is my style in raising pokemon. i believe all pokemon can be raised to be super strong and powerful. so i don’t look for power or skills. instead i look for stylish pokemon!!

That’s what I’d do…Pochama sounds so much better than Piplup. And I’d probably choose Piplup for the sake of having a penguin as a starter.

Types don’t matter in anymore in determining whether an attack is special or physical, but they still matter in every other way they used to.

I remember some of the classic Pokemon such as Bulbasaur, Squirtle, and Charmander. If memory serves me right those were the three beginner Pokemon for Red, and Blue. Those were good times, but I lost interest after Gold and Silver.

Hmm. I didn’t know about the changes to physical/special damage.

That’s pretty interesting, primarily for cases where it’ll be something like elemental punches which are suddenly going to become a much more important part of competition. I’m not sure how I feel about it yet. Some of the changes seem odd, like spark being physical (apparently it is an "electified tackle" now?)

This could also have a huge impact on certain Pokes like Absol who have incredible attack stats but don’t have any good attacks to go with them.

There are some neat moves listed in that link too. I like the sound of anticipate and trouble seed.

Piplup, his final form is some kind of king pengiun. It’s awesome. Also, I generally loved the water starters.

Piplup, as it is the only one that is not a complete copy of another starter pokemon.

Heh, i’ve played all the diamond pearl starters and they just seem like replicas of past pokemon. You can tell they’re running out of ideas when they come out with a turtle with a leaf on it as the grass starter. Who reckons by next pokemon they’ll have a cockroach pokemon?

Bulbasaur wasn’t a lizard. Atleast those pokemon were original.
These ones are practically the same as the originals.

Red/Blue Fire starter: Lizard with fire on tail
Diamond/Pearl starter: Monkey with fire on tail

Red/Blue Leaf starter: Wierd thing with flower on its back
Pearl/Diamond Leaf starter: Turtle with leaf on its back

Red/Blue Water starter: Turtle
Diamond/Pearl Water starter: Penguin

This is counting the new game, correct? From the advance games down, there are 389 I believe… Idk if you want to count the new ones yet seeing the games haven’t been released yet. But wow, they’re releasing quite a few I see.

And with the help of transferrance from the advance games, we may actually be able to get all of them. Damnations upon the fact the DS doesn’t play GBC and GB games though… I’ve got hecka good guys on Gold.

I just beat pokemon ranger to get a manaphy egg to get a manaphy in diamond even though I probably will never use it that makes me kinda sad that I spent ~10 hours of my life doing this. 🙁

I’m sure you could do it in less time if you were good at the game. Although, I’m not bad at all and I did a few extra missions before doing the manaphy one but otherwise I was going straight to the goals.

It’s a pretty fun game, though, so I don’t regret the 10 hours.

But yeah, I imagine they’ll be one of the rare pokemons, so I guess it is good for trading.

so i made sure i never had to fish for it again by getting one male and one female and i just make them make eggs all the time. (besides, starting a pokemon from lvl 5 is the only good way to get the strongest one)

the tricky part is making it evolve at lvl 5 cause of the beauty shit. and they need a specific personality. AND you need those fucking berries to make. wow. i can’t believe i even did it. lol

what really pisses me off though is my game has a glitch to where the berries i plant don’t grow trees no more? O_o and that’s just fucked up cause some berries are irreplacable.

I remember in Gold and Silver i had a batch of many Eevee eggs because I wanted to get all the evolutions. It was so hard for umbreon and espeon. My brother always ended up with Umbreon while I ended up Espeon. I didnt really care too much for Umbreon. I never tried to get the milotic egg though.

Here’s how you get feebas.

Find someone else who was enough of a sucker to go through the trouble of actually catching it, and who still knows where they get get it from. Get them to catch another one and trade it to you.

It’s really not THAT bad though. It just takes time. It’s not like it’s hard. And it’s pretty worth it for Milotic because Milotic is incredible. Through the roof special defense.

Though I still like Lapras way more.

By the way, how exactly do you get the Manaphy Egg in Pokemon Ranger since i would love to collect it since its so rare.

Pochama is good I think as the Pochama but once he evolves I don’t like him.

ChimChar and everything I just hate that whole entire line. And the names Monferno and Infernape really don’t make me want to choose that.

Turtwig I think has a decent looking evolution line but Pochama is a penguin and penguins are awesome so it is going to be a really hard choice between Pochama and Turtwig

The penguin is easily the best until their final forms. At that point I’m pretty okay with the turtle. I don’t especially like any of these, but I have never especially liked any of the starters. I’d say these are probably the best ones since RBY.

It’s funny how the starters almost always end up the least popular ones (this doesn’t apply for the majority of fanboys and girls xD). People like the more obscure and overlooked Pok�mon. And the Fire/Water/Grass thing has to go. Let us choose from a broader selection of Pok�mon; non-evolutions or the such.

While I agree that Fire/Water/Grass probably has to go I will say that in choosing a starter for this game I would pick the penguin. I love the water starter pokemon and I love penguins cuz they’re cute, so it’s win/win.

Iirc, the only other cycle like Fire>Grass>Water>Fire is a "physical" one… I think it’s Fighting, Flying, and Ground maybe?

I mean, okay, if you want a dual fire/fighting type, fine, but why would it ever be a chicken? See what I’m getting at? I would take the flaming monkey over the chicken, though honestly, both are disappointing designs, but what can I sday it must have been so hard to think of something other than Charmander and Cydnaquil.
