Just thought I’d contribute to the cleanup of the forum, something to counter the emo crap threads.

If you don’t know who Deep Purple is then bugger off out of here!
Everyone here should have heard the song "Smoke On The Water" Well there’s alot more to the band than just that song.

I prefer Rainbow to Deep Purple but A Rainbow thread wouldn’t really get many people swarming in to troll and worship etc.

So what are your opinions on one of the greatest Hard Rock bands?
Blackmore or Morse or one of the other guitarists?
Mark I or Mark 2?
Is Ian Gillan really that great of a singer?

enough spoonfeeding, let’s get it on!
Discuss or GTFO.

Sweet Child In Time.

‘Nough said. <3

TRENT!

Yes, Child In Time has to be one of their greatest songs, IMO better than smoke on the water, Blackmore’s a demon on guitar, too bad he went gay and formed a folk rock band with his wife.

?

Gay doesn’t necessarily mean homosexual, it can mean idiotic, lame and all that shite.

Blackmore’s Night sux. Actually I dunno if Candice Night is his wife or not.

I was more making a joke at your expense. Using gay in a casual derogatory manner is totally gay.

"No U" is all I have to say to reply to that.

Gay doesn’t necessarily mean homosexual, it can mean idiotic, lame and all that shite.

It can also mean happy, which was it’s original purpose. People who say ‘gay’ to mean idiotic need to get their head checked. Especially in this day and age when you can offend someone within an earshot by saying that.

Back on subject, Deep Purple are okay. Including myself, Smoke On the Water is everyone’s first power chord song when first getting into guitar. But that’s their only appeal for me. They are good at what they do, but I prefer other bands.

Shoden, Machine Head is probably my favourite out of all of the Deep Purple records I got here (on cd, that is): the thing is, I was very curious for the remixes on the second disc of that album ^_^ which turned out to be rather nice.

Deep Purple was what I listened to before metal. I still listen to them occasionally. They’re pretty great.

Have you ever listened to the Ian Gillan era Black Sabbath album: Born Again?
That may interest some of you.
I have the DVD where they’re (Deep Purple that is) with an orchestra featuring special guests such as Ronnie James Dio (Ritchie Blackmore’s Rainbow, Black Sabbath, DIO), amazing. Good to see there’s some fans here.

OMGN, SIR YOU ARE THE GREATEST

I am a HUUUUUUGEEEEEEE Deep Purple fan ever since a Young age (2 years old) and Ritchie Blackmore is my hero. ..I love his guitar smashing peformances and I get every CD that I can find of them (and DVD too), but in Australia, we have limited stuff here, we can’t get as much as Americans do (on purchasing CDs and DVDs and stuff) T_T

I saw them for the first time ever in May last year and they were the greatest (they even did my request of perfect strangers SQUEE!)

MY DVD LIST:
Perhilion
Live in Bombay/Bombay Calling 1995
California Jam
Masters from the vaults
Live 1972/73
Special Edition EP
Live with the London Symphony Orchestra
Total Abandon (Live in Australia)
Machine Head (Classic Albums)
Concerto Group for Orchestra

I’ve got some more somewhere. I’ve got about a gazillion CDs so i’m not gonna name them all.

Does anyone have the new Ian Gillan Bio DVD? Is it good?

I’m after it, and damn you got more stuff than me!
So, do you think Ritchie was better in Rainbow or Deep Purple?
Blackmore’s a god regardless of his bands anyway but that doesn’t black out the right to instate an opinion on his prime.

Ever heard Black Sabbath’s album Born Again which features Ian Gillan on lead vocals?

I think Ritchie was better in Deep Purple, however I do like Rainbow and DP Both the same, actually (It was a shame Ritchie left Rainbow too T_T).
I’ve heard one song from Born Again, but Ican’t remember what one it was. I do however have a song somewhere with Ian Gillan singing Paranoid.

I got a version of Gillan singing Heaven And Hell which is probably the best Black Sabbath song there is. and he does it quite well.
