zodiark got his ass kicked

my friend was so pissed off about it, he lost like 4 times and still thought zodiark was hard…
it took me around 20 mins to kill him, my characters are lvl 70, and i just used 4 members (the last one to revive if all of my first team die with darkja)

the last movement i did was scathe, god what a moment of glory.

now i’m going after yiazmat.. yeah… with level 70 XD

Id level up, i tried Yiazmat around the 80’s it took me 4 1/2 hours to get him 2 3rds down, and he gets really hard the last 10 HP bars or so.

Id like to hear how you get on with him at those levels though, good luck!

Yiazmat took me around 4 hours to beat with a level 99 party. It’s not really a tough fight. You just need to be patient and cautious. I beat him on my first try.

Yiazmat took me around 5 hours at level99, i didnt have all the good weapons though only ragnarok and ultima blade.

I just beat Zodiark at levels 71 70 69, and the others were 68 68 65, it was easy like you say shiedsrichter, the other time i did Zodiark i was at level 80 or something and thought it was hard, blackmasks make it alot easier though i didnt use them the first time. I was going to level up to 80 again but i thought id try at my current levels after seeing your post, just saved me a shitload of time, cheers!

Thanks, Frasier. But the difficultly of this game cannot be underestimated. I got Game Overed just trying to find him. Stumble-bumbling around, getting overconfident or careless will get you a Game Over on this game. This time, I’m using a walkthrough.

oh yea, i got killed too by a bunch of etems bfore fighting zodiark… bastards

and now i’m fighting yiazmat… he has half of his hp now, so far almost 2 hours, just used 5 ethers, and just saved in the cristal once… bcause i ran out of crono tears XD
to keep my mp up all the time, i make my character that needs mp turn into berserk mode and it fills up pretty quick… it seems it’s getting harder after some time

Whoa i could never even imagine just fighting one boss for four and a half hours i dont think ill ever beat him when i get to him

It amaze me you beat him at the first meet. It took me more than 10 game overs at my main team lvl 78. Am I just a suck planner?

At Zodiark critical hp I gambit reverse to everyone (I have only one black mask) then use only one character equip opal ring allowing him to cast scathe to zodiark without dispel his reflect, the rest wear bubble belt. Everytime he use darkja. I always got 2 guys dead, no time to revive anyone because of banishing ray which I don’t think black mask can protect. This boss is really difficult for me, just beat him at 2 am today.

I beat Zodiark with level 70-73 characters took me 15 minutes or so first try but I had a bit of a heads up with Dark absorbing and so forth. Zodiark is easy except for 3 things he does that can make or break you. The first is his special with the random killing thrown in with Black mask equiped the killing is the only thing to worry about but since it kills none 1 2 or all it can break you if your B team is weak like mine was. The second is Pailing he throws it up at 1/2 health and keeps it up so he can be a bugger with it espically if your norm is physical attacks. The third is the random Magic barrier he throws up he doesn’t always have it on but it sucks big time when you have a massive magic attack ready and he throws up the barrier. Other then that he is just moderatly powerful.

Moderately powerful? I think he’s the one boss that gave me the hardest time. Yiazmat was easy compared to him, he was just long to beat. Omega was easy too… To me, Zodiark is definitely the hardest boss in the game. Not that he was THAT tough, but he’s the one that gave me the hardest time, and one of the rare ones that sent me to a game over screen.

I think this Zodiark has used different methods when your character has different lvl. IE my B team is only lvl 55 what Zodiark usually use is lvl3 disable, lvl4 break sort of but when it turn to my A team he never use any of those stuffs. At his critical hp he attack with something that can take 7000 to 9000 of your hp. I don’t think you can absorb this attack by black mask or demon shield. I’ve tried it.

Are you talking about scathe? If so just move your characters out it has limited range so while it will hit one character if you spread out it affects only one. Also Magic equip items for armor helps you defend and lessen the hurt. Also use aegis sheild to avoid the attacks it really helps in the long run.

Hynad I still haven’t killed Yizmat and Omega so I can’t say but Zodiark he only truly gave me trouble with Pailing and Darkja and that was it he was easy espically since I abuse Gil toss since I can make bundles VERY easily and max gil to start with. so I can drop them faster and easier. Gil toss at Max is THE GOD Max damage most times and 6999 others really really useful when facing Hp heavy monsters.

Darkja was the shit for me. My whole party (including my supports) was around 75ish and he still gave me a run for my money. Yiazmat and Omega, I can’t say for sure because my party was at level 99… so they went down pretty smoothly.

Getting to Zodiark wasn’t really much of a problem to be honest. If you want a REALLY easy time getting there use these gambits:

Foe: Any -> Sleepga
Foe Status = Sleep -> Curaja

This makes short work of all those nasty Abysteels.

I fumbled twice on Zodiark thus far, his Darkja did me in twice. I freaking hate it. The only thing I did right was getting Vaan the Demon Shield and everyone else Black Masks. Stupid 50% chance of instant death =(.

K- No loop Manual control with the Maxium amount of Gil one can carry as well as Keeping the Party in good health. Damage is derived from Party health, Gil tossed, and Number of enemies. I don’t quite fully have all the factors and how they effect the damage because I have seen 9999 damage one toss and then 6999 on others for the same Monster or boss either way in a single hit you do the most damage except for Genji glove Max attack number with the more powerful weapons combo. As for Gil the best place is Giruvegan the first area SO many enemies with good loot near a save cyrstal and on higher levels easy kills makes life grand for Gil hunters.

Also before I forget Gil toss Max is not Gil carrying max. You can carry several times more then 9999 the Max gil toss amount You get 10 or so throws (I think never had a need to really test it out sorry). You should really only need to use Gil toss twice or thrice epending on situation or level Yizmat you might need to go the full amount just to whittle him down a little.

As well as Gil toss will hit that graphic snag spells seem to later on in the game once had Gilgamesh hit me 3 times before I got Gil toss out when it was already charged.

50% chance…this is the problem in a nutshell…anyone who says, "Zodiark was easy, killed on the first try in 5 minutes" simply got lucky. Darkja will sometimes kill your entire party…black mask\demon shield and all…and there isn’t any amount of leveling up that will stop it.

Zodiark = easy, pussified, total-letdown-when-you-see-him, puny, useless esper that I whipped in 10 minutes. (It’s called 3 black masks, sages ring+spamming Holy).

Yiazmat = WTF? Why isn’t this 50-minute-yiazmat trick working?

I beat Zodiark in less than 5 minutes, but that was only because the darkja (with death) did not kill entire party, which it will do at some percentage, REGARDLESS of whether you are wearing 3 black masks or not, that has no prevention for death effect.

That’s why you start the battle with ONE person. It lessens the (possible) deaths of his free Darkja. Once you know that, Zodiark is easy. Getting to him is harder, and Yiazmat’s harder still.
