I heard a rumor about FFXII being unplayable on the new slim PStwo. Something about the system will keep restarting itself.

Is this true? If so, I will cry tears of blood.

Never heard this rumor. If anyone knows anyplace on the Internet where it’s been posted, I’d be interested to see it. I have a standard PS2 myself.

I run it on a slim PS2. And it works just fine. But I know some games won’t load if the PS2’s language setting is not set to English. I didn’t try it on my system, but that might be the reason why FFXII won’t load on some people’s systems.

Yeah, my brother’s got the slim one and I’ve had zero problems with it thus far. This sounds like a pretty sketchy rumor.

I know some of the older PS2 like the first ones to come out won’t read the newer games happened to me till I killed my old one by accident and got a newer one.

My ps2 is one of the first models out (pal), chunky preorder from way back. And im using swap magic 3.6 because i have a pal console and did’nt want to wait for the pal release, it works fine with my ps2.

Werid maybe mine was just damaged mine was one of the orignal and I do mean ORIGNAL ones so it could have something to do with Hardware breakdown. I had to clean the lens if I wanted to play games like Xenosaga ep II or DMC3 so forth.

Yeah, the optical drive in my gen1 ps2 died about 3 weeks before FFXII was released, so I went out and bought one of the silver slim versions and I haven’t had any trouble with it at all.

I haven’t had any problems with mine and I play on both the dino-PS2 and the new slim-PS2. Now my dinosaur won’t play the new GTA games though. Maybe the rumor’s got the wrong games and mixed messages.

I got the slim one when my orig big ruined Kingdom Hearts 2 in April of last year after hundreds of hours of use(possibly thousands). Haven’t had any problems with the slim.
