Larzuk, I would suggest trying something like Sendspace, or even ZShare for uploading your content. Although Sendspace has received mixed reviews (predominantly good, as far as I’m aware), I haven’t really heard anything bad about ZShare. Give it a shot ^_^.

Alright, got some news for the Legacy of Darkness MP3s. I have them encoded at 320kbps and sound exactly like they do now as miniusf files. The only downfall to this is the fact thats since it is 332 files, its 2 gigs.

Some songs end way early then they should (ex: ends at 1:09 but keeps going till 3:09). That Example is making a 7.9mb song into a 1mb or less song. I got a program that will take the blank part out and save more space. So hopefully this will take a majority of the space off the total. This migh take me a few days though.

Need some opinions here, should I just go ahead a recode them to 128kbps or should I keep them at 320kbps? When I cut some of the songs that have so much empty time on it, it changes them to 128kbps.

Also there are some duplicates in this for some odd reason, so Ill save more space from that too. There are some sound effect files aswell, Ill delete those to. Who really wants to hear 6 seconds of electricity, heh? As for now, Im editing all the songs, deleteing duplicates, deleting sound effects, and adding a name to some files that are left as sparse. Some songs Ill leave as sparse since they are from cutscenese in the game and really dont have a name. its going to take a few days to complete so hang tight! Ill make sure its worth downloading!! 🙂

Sorry for the new post but I feel like I crammed enough info in the post above. Anyways, I decided that ill keep the songs at 320kbps, the edited ones will stay at 128kbps, reguardless of what I do.

As for what the point of this post is, I need some opinions. While going through all these tracks I noticed that some repeat themselves a couple times. Theyhave an early version (Ex) thats just a few seconds long or an extended version (Ex2) that can be up to a minute or two long because of all the files. The extended version I have found out is about 3-4 of these files combined to make a song, maybe from a movie or battle within the game.

Ex: sparse1 = 1 song, sparse2 = 1 song, sparse3 = 1 song, etc…
Ex2: sparse1 + sparse2 + sparse3 = sparse4

So this is where I need your opinion, should I just go with example one and have many files and having a longer time to download. Or I can go with example two that will have the many little files in one bigger file, saving download time and space. (After all, its 2 gigs with all 332 songs at 320kbps…)

As of right now if you go with example one, you will have 166 sparse files, all the small ones and big ones. If I go with example two, I can probably get the 166 down to 70 or so.

Might I make a small request? What I’m looking for is plain and simple, the three original Castlevania soundtracks from the three NES games:

I’d kill to have those! Oh and by the way I’m totally aware of some of the tracks being scattered on the “Castlevania Dracula Best Selection” discs but I’m not really happy with those, they are remixed and have some weird echo effect and other sound effects to them that ruin it for me.

I’d greatly appreciate any help on getting the three original soundtracks to these games, much appreciated to anyone that can help!

im going to go ahead and take the Legacy of Darkness files off. THey are pretty much no good right now since you either have to have a certain file to play them and arent burnable, or such poor quality that its not worth it.

Im still going through all the files for LoD, most are at 320kbps now and sound like they should.
Im about halfway done with that. So once Im done I will add the new version of it.

well from what news ive heard and seen on the PoR soundtrack. im not going to like it to much but i will get it for all of you. 74 songs and all it is is PoR and its list is the same exact thing over two discs.

Well, from what I gathered the second cd will not only slightly be rearranged but with high quality sampling as well. I mean, the composer always has to restrict herself and now she can just go all out. For comparison, listen to Hail from the Past from the DS rip files and then listen to the one included on the 20th anniversary disk. It feels like a world of difference to me, for a big part because those instruments are more pleasing to hear than beeps and boops(but thats just me, dont shoot me! :P)

If the difference is going to be like that for every file its more than worth it for me. I’d truly appreciate it if you could get your hands on this. Been looking all over the place but the cd is either sold out or… it just doesnt seem to exist. 🙁

ah well thats good to hear. sadly for todays date, its only released in japan. ill try and order it but it would take who knows how long to get it, then rip it.

I can order it from the konami site you linked to I think, but I cannot read Japanese what so ever.

You can order it via the custom factory of Konami, but you need a Japanese ID, which is a hassle to do.

Hey Larzuk. I’ve assembled a couple of two-disc compilations full of Castlevania music.

I’ve put in several classics, like Aquarius, Clockwork Mansion, Dance of Illusions, Blood Relations, Black Banquet, Wicked Child, and some tracks from Harmony of Dissonance: Successor of Fate, Offense and Defense, VK2K2, and the arranged version of Chapel of Dissonance.

As for the classic trilogy of themes, here’s the versions I’ve used:

Beginning (Vampire’s Kiss) (Personally, I liked the SNES version better than Rondo’s.)

Also, there’s several renditions of Theme of Simon: the original version from CV4, Sota Fujimori’s arrangement from Chronicles, the arranged 2007 version from Portrait of Ruin and Michiru Yamane’s remix from the Rondo of Blood/Bloodlines CD.

Plus, both compilations are packed with several tracks from what I think is one of the best soundtracks in the series: Lament of Innocence. Included are Dark Night Toccata, Lament of Innocence, House of Sacred Remains, Melancholy Joachim, Castlevania Reincarnation, and more.

I was wondering if there was any update on the Legacy of Darkness OST? I know you said you were cleaning it up. I do have a low quality version as it is, I was wondering if you needed or wanted it? For reference, maybe?

Remember the Dawn of Sorrow trailer that played an arranged Demon Castle Pinnacle? Any chance of it being found? I’m just hoping that Dawn of Sorrow got the same treatment as Portrait of Ruin as far as having an arranged version of the OST.

10: Vampire Killer (all)
What better way to start than with THE theme that started it all? Since its debut in 1986, the classic Vampire Killer theme became a constant presence in many of the series’ soundtracks. Some of the best remixes are from Chronicles, Rondo of Blood (and Vampire’s Kiss), CV4, Dawn of Sorrow, and the ending theme of Lament of Innocence…

9: Admiration Towards the Clan
Great piece by Michiru Yamane, and as a bonus, we’re even given a quote from Vampire Killer. The piece, like its title says, expresses the beginning of the Belmont Clan’s fight against Dracula. Great ending theme overall.

8: Crucifix Held Close
Going way back to Haunted Castle, Michiru Yamane plucked this classic Stage 1 theme from its grave and gave it a 21st century makeover, resulting in one of Portrait of Ruin’s best themes overall.

7: Crucifix of Fate
When Aria of Sorrow was first unveiled, I was in shock. Dracula’s gone from the face of the earth? Then, I played it and realized that despite his demise, some people are still intent on reviving the Dark Lord. Enter Soma Cruz, the protagonist and reincarnation of Dracula. After being teleported to the castle, which was sealed in the solar eclipse, he’s aided by a mysterious man, Genya Arikado, who tells him of his power to use the abilities of his defeated foes. From then on, Soma fights through the castle to uncover the mystery. As for the theme, it’s another excellent Entrance theme in the series, and it’s even better on the Lament of Innocence CD.

6: Heart of Fire (Aria of Sorrow)
After nearly two hundred years of waiting, the Belmont Clan finally took charge and destroyed Dracula. Julius Belmont was responsible, but the battle resulted in him suffering from amnesia. After coming to Dracula’s Castle, his memories come rushing back to him. Having learned of Soma’s identity, they battle. Taking two great themes ("Don’t Wait Until Night" from Haunted Castle and "Heart of Fire" from the original Castlevania) and melding them together resulted in one of the series’ best battle themes.

5: Iron Blue Intention (Portrait of Ruin)
This sweet Stage 4 gem from Bloodlines was brought back into the fold in Portrait of Ruin. Easily one of Yamane’s favorite pieces (I think), she took what she had before and made it more expressive and more memorable. It makes you want to wander around 13th Street just humming along to this.

4: Clockwork (Circle of the Moon)
Circle of the Moon’s soundtrack was really heavy on old themes, but composer Sotaro Tojima made them worth listening to again. Taking the classic Clockwork theme from Dracula’s Curse, Tojima worked to make it better than ever.

3: Invitation of a Crazed Moon
Along with Michiru Yamane, Yuzo Koshiro contributed to Portrait of Ruin’s soundtrack. And he kicked us off with this brilliant and memorable Castle Entrance theme. Granted, almost all the introductionary themes have been great, but this is definitely one of the better ones.

2: Lament of Innocence
Just as Yamane says during the sound test, it’s a piece that expresses Leon’s grief and anger. And what better place to put it than just before the final battle with Walter and Death? Easily a classic Castlevania theme, and one of the best and most beloved around.

AND NUMBER ONE:

Theme of Simon Belmont
Come on: you knew this was coming. When Super Castlevania IV was released on the Super NES, composer Sotaro Tojima, who also worked on the sound design for the Metal Gear Solid series, showed gamers what the SNES was capable of in terms of audio. Taking full advantage of the SNES’ sound capabilities, Tojima gave us a soundtrack that bordered on gothic and macabre, yet intense and satisfying. But one theme stands alone: Simon Belmont’s theme. From then on, Simon’s Theme was rearranged for Castlevania Chronicles (Akumajo Dracula X68000), and then for Castlevania Bloodlines and Portrait of Ruin. Sure, there were a lot of great themes from CV4, but Simon’s Theme is, without a doubt, my favorite Castlevania theme of all time.

Can someone tell me on which console Gallery of Labyrinth was on? I never heard of it.

Gallery of Labyrinth is the alternate name for Portrait of Ruin, much like how Cross of the Blue Moon is Dawn of Sorrow, Concerto of the Midnight Sun is Harmony of Dissonance, Nocturne in the Moonlight is Symphony of the Night, and Minuet of Dawn of Aria of Sorrow.

I have LoI , CoD , SotN CDs at home so can rip lossless if anyone wants, but yeah was curious if anyone owned the cds for Circle of the Moon / Harmony of Dissonance or the Portrait of ruin cd because I’m after lossless versions of them 🙂 Its not easy to find

First of all: Dude! you saved my ass, I was desperatedly looking for Castlevania’s OSTs and here they are. I’ve been trying to complete my collection since 1998 I guess, this is the best thing that could’ve happened.

Seccond of all, I would like to know which of these are official releases. There are some rips there and I think they’re not sold as OSTs, am I right? I just wanted to know which releases I could actually buy from stores. Some things I like to have as "Originals" 😛

And last, is there any webpage I could use as reference for labelling all the OSTs I haven’t got phisically yet? like… where to see if I’m labelling the songs correctly according to the original release etc…

How come alot of the tracks for Lament of Innocence and Curse Of Darkness are lower than 256kbps when you say that they’re all 256-320kbps?

I ripped it myself last night and just used MU to upload it while I was sleeping.. but the tag was using japanese.. I have some japanese soundtracks at home.. sometimes the winamp tagging stuffs up… Yeah i own it and a few others 🙂 I ripped it myself using soundforge to wav and then use Flac 🙂 I have gallery of labyrinth FLAC but from a friend, but the others I all own 🙂

I threw in some extra songs I found online like the shop theme and black disc song

Hey, coolness. Lossless music. Downloading the NITM/SOTN score. Not sure why though considering I have a far more complete soundtrack of it. My brother found some waves of the music files copied from the PSX disc several years back, because we were unhappy with how the official OST cuts songs short before they can loop properly. (Some songs have extended/alternate endings when they play through a second time.)

Unfortunately I don’t think he has the files anymore, but before getting rid of them he did burn a two-disc set, one for himself and one for me. I’ve since ripped those two CDs to VBR 192kbps AACs (.m4a), so technically I don’t know if the sound quality should be good considering all the conversions, but it sounds all right to my ears. I could upload these if anyone’s interested. They include the Japanese vocal version of "Nocturne" (splendid rendition of "Lost Painting", my favorite song in the game) as well as a weird little number I’ve never heard in the game before called "Silence". It’s just a few seconds, but it’s kind of unsettling and really cool. The remix of "Dracula’s Castle" (the tune you hear when putting the PSX disc in a CD player) is on at the end as a bonus track of sorts.

Which CDs do you own, bakabakabaka? Just curious ‘cos I really would like higher quality rips (192+, perhaps even lossless) of certain CDs, like the two Perfect Selection Dracula Battle albums, the second disc of the original Rondo of Blood OST (which contains the score for Bloodlines), Perfect Selection Dracula New Classic, the COTM/HOD and AOS/DOS double-disc OSTs, Akumajo Dracula MIDI Collection, Akumajo Dracula Music Collection (that compilation that came with NITM and SOTN pre-orders), the two MIDI Power albums, and if anyone’s got it (has it been released? I think it came as a bundle), the full Order of Ecclesia OST. That’s a lot of stuff to ask for, and I apologize, but it would be great if anyone who actually owns the CDs could make high quality rips of them, or if you’ve download consistently good high quality rips that works also. I’d buy this stuff if it were easily obtainable! (Actually, the COTM/HOD and AOS/DOS CDs are, but they sound like garbage and I have no intention on buying them. Homemade game rips sound better.)

With the OST for Castlevania 64 on the way (unless the place I ordered from doesn’t actually have it in stock).

I try to make the ID3 tags really good and non-messy. With the DXC OST (which just came in the mail this morning), I even included the kanji (since it was already there, ha ha), with the English translations in parentheses. I’m tempted to go back to the other OSTs and do this with the tags, but I’m not sure I will since I can’t read Japanese anyway (which really sucks ‘cos I can’t read any of the song commentaries in the booklets), but it’s kind of cool to see the kanji for DXC on my iPod.

Oh, also, to the original poster: How come on the Portrait of Ruin/Gallery of Labyrinth OST, all the files are 192kbps EXCEPT both CDs’ versions of "Cross Your Heart" (or whatever it’s titled on the OST), which are 128? That’s really weird.

Hes probably talking about the games xa audio 🙂 I ripped it once, tho its in .mpc foprmat tho at braindead setting .. I still have it somewhere. SOunds great tho original xa audio was like 37.8Khz but yeah sounds cool and yeah they do loop twice.. I will upload them also now for it.. Just get a mpc plugin for winamp to play it 🙂 (At the time i liked mpeg plus so I only have it in mpc 🙁 ) , still works in winamp fine tho with plugin 😀 I’m sure you can change it to mp3 somehow.

I’ll probably be buying the COTM/HOD and AOS/DOS CDs soon. Unfortunately, the AOS recording is downright dreadful (the game rips at The Castlevania Dungeon are about a thousand times better, and I hate Konami for releasing such a cruddy product), and with COTM comes a good deal of hissing. HOD sounds pretty good, though, aside from the slightly lousy equipment used to make the music. 😉

If I get those CDs, I’ll seeeeeee what I can do about uploading them lossless, though they’d likely be Apple Lossless and not FLAC, but my upload speed is terrible so it may not even happen. Best I’d be able to do is 192 VBR.

Did anyone get the soundtrack CD for Order of Ecclesia? I pre-ordered mine for that specific purpose, but it didn’t come in the mail with my game. I’m livid! But if someone did manage to get it and would post it here, that’d be awesome.

If you mean the North American pre-order disc, it’s only like five or six songs. As far as I know, the full OST was only released as a highly expensive bundle with the game.

Abnormal Freak, yeah it would be cool to get the lossless versions.. I know some of the rips have hissing as with the 20th anniversary songs i have in lossless , some are quite hissy like sign of blood pulse and vision of dark secrets, but yeah good songs from cotm 🙂

I ordered the OSTs for COTM/HOD, AOS/DOS, and POR. The last one has already been posted here in good quality, so no need for that, but I’ll for sure make 192kbps AAC rips of the first two albums. Again, if I WERE to do lossless (really not sure right now, ‘cos again, it would take me forever to upload, but we’ll see), it’s going to be Apple Lossless, so lemme know if that’s a problem or not.

I downloaded the OST to Casltevania Judgement some time ago, but I doubt it was the best quality, since, for whatever reason, Dance of Illusions lacks the chior. Is this a widespread issue on the OST, or a problem with my download?

I went back a couple posts and read someone had the actual Portrait of Ruin OST, any chance that person could rip it in FLAC, you’d probably be the first person on the internet to post it since it’s literally nowhere to be found in such quality.

BTW, does anyone have Legacy of Darkness in anything but 128?

Sorry if I seem picky, it’s just that I’m kind of a sound quality freak and I live in Costa Rica, so actually buying the soundtrack is rather difficult for me (I envy you guys)

Well, it is apparently a problem related to the OST itself. I was checking up the soundtrack that I have (Gotten elsewhere) and well, it does lack the choir too.

I"m looking for one particular version of Bloody Tears but I’m not sure if it’s a Konami remix or if it was done elsewhere…

It sounds sort of slow but the actual part sounds like dings, I know this probably does not help, but a friend found it on Morpheus years and years and years ago. I was tying to get music off of my CD’s and the CD is so jacked up it won’t even let me extract the file… me=sad because that’s my favorite version ever.

Out of all 11 pages in this thread, I can’t believe you’re the only person to point this out. I downloaded the soundtrack, listened to it, and I couldn’t believe my ears: the bass was entirely gone, which ruins the songs. I then proceeded to look throughout this thread for someone to re-upload it, but you’re the only other person to mention it.

Why has no one else noticed this? And why is the bass missing from the entire soundtrack? 🙁

EDIT: Man, whoever paid for the Castlevania Best Music Collections BOX got gypped. None of the NES music is how it originally was, as a ton of artificial reverb has been added to the tunes and has ruined the songs by making them muddy and less crisp. Even Adventure was ruined! Thankfully, the Legends OST wasn’t ruined, and it turns out that that was the only OST I was originally asking for, so I’m grateful for that at least.

Still, this means that even after a week’s worth of searching, I still have yet to find the original Adventure OST. I shall prevail!

Thanks for pointing me in that direction, but unfortunately, that disc is also littered with reverb. It’s more tolerable than what was on the Best Music Collection BOX, but I’ll still have to pass on it. I consider myself a soundtrack purist, in that it has to sound exactly the same as it did in the game itself–just as you mentioned, Rock-X, in how you heard the bass in Legends but were disappointed that it was lacking in the soundtrack link. Plus, the GameBoy was not capable of reverb, only programmed delay, therefore the compositions were not made with reverb in mind, thus resulting in a few muddy sections here and there. What makes companies think it’s okay to add reverb to old music? It just makes it muddy–Nintendo is also guilty of this with their Link’s Awakening release.

Once again, thanks anyways, Rock-X. I shall continue looking for a non-tainted soundtrack of Castlevania Adventure, and listen to it the way it was originally made.
