Mega Man (NES)

My best friend and I have had this idea for quite some time and it looks like it’s finally coming to form. We are planning on releasing a series of Video Game Reviews from the NES. We are trying to be serious, yet throw in some comedy in there as well. Our first review is now available and can be viewed at Youtube at the url below. It is of the original Mega Man for the NES.

Ya, we tried making it look like we sucked, so it appears we did a great job. We’ve both played the original MegaMan countless times and is relatively easy for us, but for somebody first trying it out, it will definately give them trouble, and that is what we were shooting for.

Currently got 3 other reviews planed and our 2nd one should be available this weekend. I’ll be sure to post it up.

somewhat funny. but i don’t understand why it only got an 8.1. you guys said it was so awesome i was expecting you guys to give it a perfect 10 or something. i don’t remember you guys even mentioning like 1 bad thing to make it deserve the 8. oh wait..the lack of save points? but did such a thing exist when it first came out? i guess since it’s a review in retrospect, you’d give it minus points for not having what the new ones have? wtf?

yah. i don’t get it.

There were some points of the game that were just plain frustrating. And we all know that frustration can take anyone out of a gaming mood and make them not care for a game.

Ya, the game was really good, set the standard for its genre and for the rest of the games in the console.

It was definately not a perfect game. I personally feel that game sites throw out 10’s way to often, since no game is perfect. Mega Man is a great game and probably in the top 10% of games for the NES. In comparing it to the other games in the series it doesn’t match up at all because it doesn’t have a lot of key elements that could be found in all the games that succeeded it. It was an extremely hard game as well and very frustrating at times. Simple things like the begining of Elec mans level as well as the begining part of Guts Mans level. Both are shown in the review. I also had a part of Ice Man’s level, but i didn’t include it since I didn’t wanna overkill how difficult the game was, because ya, your right, it was a great game and didn’t want its extreme difficulty to overshadow the good portions of it.

No seriously, the comments about Bombman were my exact thoughts when I played through this game way back in my earlier years. That was pretty sweet and I will look forward to the next review.

P.S.: It seems you guys are going more for comedy than an actual review. Whether or not these are your intentions I think that is why I like it.

Thanks for the comment Joey. While there are several people out there that review old classic NES games such as the Angry Video Game Nerd, Armake, and several other people throughout the net and on youtube. Most of them aim strictly to bring you reviews on some terrible games where you could just rip them apart. Our aim is to mix more of a serious tone to it side by side with the comedy portions, similar to what Tommy and Victor did on the old G4 channel, Judgement Day. I’m hoping it picks up and people start to like our reviews.

The nostalgia is great, the review was very entertaining (watched it twice), but man do you suck at Elecman and Gutsman stage. haha…

Not bad, while I give the original MegaMan respect for being the first Mega Man title, I feel it is completely out shined by subsequent NES releases. The music also got much better in the series with time.

edit: the fact you have them all boxed is humbling.

MM3 will always be my favorite MM. I especially enjoy Snakeman stage.

Yeah, that Renegade game did kinda suck. Actually, it really sucked. Good job on the review for it because that’s pretty much what I was thinking when I first played it.
