Formalhaut in Lhusu Mines?

Can anyone confirm for me whether or not the treasure behind the Antlion in Lhusu is supposed to contain the Formalhaut, and if so, does that treasure respawn? I just beat Antlion but all I got from the treasure was a knot of rust.

Have you tried equipping that accessory that gets you better stuff from treasure chests? I forget what it’s called, but there’s an accessory you can equip that gives you a much better chance of getting the good stuff from treasures.

I got mine from equipping a Diamond Armlet and hunting for loot in Cerobi Steppe…there’s two chests in Cerobi that have a slim chance of containing the Fomalhaut.

If you read through it, a diamond armlet isn’t necessary.

Good to know – based on that thread it sounds like the treasure thing respawns … but the diamond armlet (whatever it’s called) really helps increases the chances of getting it. I don’t have a diamond armlet yet, haven’t found it for purchase anywhere. I read that it’s available as a treasure in the Tchita Uplands, but I’m not sure where…I’ve done plenty of "training" there but never come across it (referring to the Diamond Armlet).

If anyone can tell me where to acquire a Formalhaut or a Diamond Armlet I’d surely appreciate it.

The Diamond Armlet should be sold in that one little village or whatever in the Dalmasca Esterland. I think it only appears after Pharos, though. Not sure.

I remember getting it, I think it may also be sold in Balfonheim Port or somewhere. Or maybe I got one from a Bazaar item or in a treasure chest. I dunno. I just know that’s not the only place where you can get one.

Guns bypass the target’s defense rating…so actually 50 is more like 100.

It is in fact where the antlion spawns and from personal experience, you can get more than 1 of them, I currently have 2-3. It also respawns too, so if you did not get it, just log out and come back in or explore around til the chest reappears.

Got it now; snagged 3 while I was there just in case. The treasure pot was in the back of the Antlion’s room, so all I did was save at the Lhusu Crystal, run in there, check the pot, and if it wasn’t a Formalhut I just exited to the main screen (start, square) and reloaded. Once I got the gun, I’d fight my way back to the crystal again, save, reload, repeat. Only took about 30 minutes or so to get 3 of ’em.

Why fight your way back to the Gate Crystal? Why not just flee?

Or are you trying to build levels / loot, etc.?

Pretty much – I try to avoid as few battles as possible; I really enjoy the battle system in XII, plus there’s always room for more exp and loot 😉
