The Chain-Levels Thread

Is there any limit as to how many enemies of the same type you can chain attacks on before the chain stops? I thought I had read 99 somewhere, but I tried it earlier and went way past it. Or is it 999?

I haven’t heard anything about a limit to chain-levels, but I haven’t tried to reach 999. My highest was somewhere in the mid-200’s fighting those skeleton’s in the Lhusu Mine way back near the start.

Ooh, I went crazy with those skeletons too, but I didn’t go anywhere that high. My max currently is only like around 120. BTW — anyone know about any Sky Pirate’s Den items for this? I got The Relentless for chaining 50, but nothing else so far.

Funny you ask, that’s actually why I was chaining all of those skeletons in the first place. I didn’t get anything in the Sky Pirate’s Den above and beyond the reward for a 50 chain – I wanted to try for 500 but the skeleton’s spawn rate came to a grinding halt around the 200 mark.

btw,my highest was a little over 200,doing the marlboro overlords,i only stopped cuz vaan killed a snake while i wasnt paying attention.

999 is the limit. I killed this many abysteels lvling in the henne mines. Nothing special happens.

Confirmed…. 999 is the ceiling. I scored it during the Negalmuur loop. Otherwise I’d have never had the patience.

Does it reset, or does it just continue at 999?

Probably stay at 999. Final Fantasy loves 9’s. 99 max level, 9999 max health, 999 max mp, 9999 max dmg…

I loved battling in FFX with Bahamut, his ceiling was something near 99999 or so. (I think)

Yeah, it stays at 999. The enemy drops are nuts too. The drops will cast protectga, shellga, and cura on your party occasionally.
