I’ve realized my collection is a bit… small. ^^; I was wondering if any of you knew of any other soundtracks I could open up to? My favorite composers include:

Koji Kondo (Zelda, Mario and others)
Yoko Shimomura (Mario & Luigi, Super Mario RPG, Kingdom Hearts)
Hajime Wakai (StarFox 64, Pikmin, Zelda: Wind Waker)
David Wise (Donkey Kong Country)
Masami Ueda (Okami)
Yoshihito Yano (Soul Calibur series, Katamari Damacy)

Like Megaman Zero, I usually only listen to soundtracks of games that I have played. Seeing as my gaming experience is somewhat limited, there are so many soundtracks I have yet to hear, and probably some very great ones out there. I’m open to most soundtracks, and my preferences are music in the style of the composers above, or anything very catchy, with a pleasant melody, and…. eh, kinda hard to describe my tastes. So, any soundtracks really worth listening to out there that I might be interested in?

Kirite. Maybe not the whole album, but definitely check out The Snow Howling.

I really can’t recommend you whole soundtracks, for I delete those I don’t listn to (thus saving the rest I like).

Harry Gregson-Williams work for the Metal Gear Solid series is always great if you like Hollywood quality music. I would recommend both the main themes from MGS2 and MGS3.

If you liked David Wise’s work, check out the other Rare composers works such as Kameo, Perfect Dark Zero, Banjo-Kazooie and Conker’s Bad Fur Day.

All I say is that every game music fan should at least have heard some Nobuo Uematsu. If you like him or not, that’s another thing. I personally do.

I also recommend Koichi Sugiyama. Should hear some of his stuff, too. However, he has a very classical style, so it’s up to you if you like him or not.

Hehe, no problem. 🙂

Some songs I listen to most of the day:

DEAD OR ALIVE – SAYONARA (Makoto Hosoi, Takafumi Inamori, Ryo Koike)
Onimusha 2 – Love and Compassion (Love and Compassion)
UNDER THE BLUE SKY – FOR YOU (Motoaki Furukawa)
UNDER THE BLUE SKY – CELEBRATION (Motoaki Furukawa)
ROMANCING SAGA -Minstrel Song- – Only One Wish (Kenji Ito)
GunZ the Duel ‘International Edition’ Beta – Game Menu (unknown artist)

These are just some of the songs I listen to most of the day. If you can’t find some of these songs on the main site, please let me know. I’ll upload them as soon as possible.

Also, like someone said in a previous post, the Metal Gear Solid series has some great music. And you should also check out the Silent Hill stuff. Very good music on those OSTs.

I think everyone should give a listen to the Onimusha Original Soundtrack by Mamoru Samuragoch. The music really makes Onimusha a great game. He also did Biohazard Symphony Op. 91 – Crime and Punishment.
The "Frogger (PSX) Game Rip" is a soothing addition to any VGM collection.
I also suggest music from the Tenchu Series. It really stands out from most other soundtracks.
Other albums to listen too: Sims – Bustin’ Out , Mario & Zelda Big Band Live CD and Jet Grind(set) Radio

The Silent Hill series has some really nice ambient sounds, and vocals too. Should give them a go. Also, Ico and Shadow of the Colossus has amazing soundtracks. (Especially if you’re into orchestra music – Shadow of the Colossus)

as mentioned above, you cant go wrong with shadow of the colossus (one of the most powerful soudntracks ever IMHO)

if you like koji kondo stuff you are sure to enjoy the metroid prime soundtracks.

Xenosaga has a luscious soundtrack for every game, despite the VGM music in the 3rd one which is better then the officially released soundtrack are extremely rare to come by ( people keep removing it ) but none the less, I’d recommend them for story depth.. all but the third one of course.
