I was forced to listen to the new Trivium album today.

And the album sounded so familiar. I could’ve sworn I heard it somewhere before, but where was it? Oh yeah, I think there was something released back in 1986 called "Master of Puppets" that had this same exact sound! Seriously, after enduring the 70 minutes of hell, better known as Trivium’s "The Crusade," I wanted to find Matt Heafy, and reinact the death of Dimebag Darrell on someone who actually deserves it.

You listen to the music on here, and it’ll feel like you’re listening to a bad Metallica cover band. The worst part is, this is "original" material by Trivium. Matt Heafy went from a cookie cutter Metalcore singer, to a James Hetfield impersonator, and is considered "a metal god" for doing so. I listened to this one song on here, and it’s the same guitar riffs from Master of Puppets, the same drums, the same vocals, and they even put the same type of chant along from Master of Puppets on here. I saw a quote that said, "When Trivium heard they were the new Metallica, they took it too seriously."

But when I heard the album, I was lucky, because I had a spoon in my hand, and I shoved it up my ass. You may be wondering "why?". To distract myself from the pain, because if I’m gonna hurt that much, I’m gonna do it to myself. Oprah calls that empowerment.

I think Trivium are awesome. I don’t think they sound like Metallica…well not the vocals anyway.

When I first heard the new album, my buddy put the CD in and said listen this is James’s side project. And after my 15 rant about how james was a hypocrite and a bastard for forcing jason out of the band for the same thing, my buddy bursted out laughing at me and told me it was Trivium. After I calmed down from the rant, I listened and though it was ok, but like Mentos said sounded WAY too much like Metallica.

Wow I’m shocked t see this. Guess it goes to show not everyone is stupid because everywhere else I hear how Trivium is the god of metal. I don’t think they are bad but I don’t think they are anything special either.

Not heard a single good song from Trivium, I don’t think they are a thing like Metallica sorry.

I’ve listened to them, curious from all the hype. They’re absolutely nowhere near as good as people are making them out to be, but I don’t think they’re the big Metallica clones their detractors claim either. The influence is blatant, but I think they’re still pretty different that it’s not a simple rip off. Still, certainly not a band deserving all the hype they get.

I still have yet to listen to my maybe-thankfully free copy of Trivium’s latest. So, with these thoughts in mind, I at least know not to expect a masterpiece.

Think of them as this generation’s Limp Bizkit.

I’d say they’re better than Limp Bizkit at least
