Help find a great anime movie!

Hey everyone. I’m not much of a anime person myself, but a good friend of mine really loves them. I want to get him a nice movie for Christmas, but I don’t know where to start. If any of you could suggest a movie that you may think he’s like, I’d appreciate it.

He’s more into the action type of anime movies, fighting, magic, mythical creatures. I know one of the movies he liked was Princess Mononoke, not sure on the names of the other ones I’ve watched with him. I’m looking to get him a full length movie but something not as mainstream as Princess Mononoke but with just as good story but maybe more fighting.

The person I want to purchase this for doesn’t make much money, so I won’t have to worry about if he has the video already.

Sorry if I can’t provide a more in depth view of what he would like in an anime movie, but I just know enough about them. I appreacite any and all suggestions you could provide me. Thanks!

Edit: Just remembered that Ninja Scroll was another anime movie I know he liked.

Would you Buy one or is Movie from Net Ok?

He would probably like X: Destiny War if you could find it, but it’s a movie from the X/1999 series. Vampire Hunter D and Blood are two good vampire-centric movies, and Ghost in the Shell is about cyborg mercenaries.

If you want to take a different approach, there’s Akira, Sin the Movie, and Spriggan. I bought those three for about $15, and Akira is deemed one of the best animes of all time.

PS: Princess Mononoke is a Studio Ghibli film. Others from that studio include: Porco Rosso, Nausicaa, Spirited Away, Howl’s Moving Castle, Laputa, and Castle of Caligostro. They are more story-oriented than action-oriented.
