read about the patient in the desert and let me know if you also get stuff like "ferryman missing sidequest on page ???)
theres a few more of these. and then after page 233, it suddenly becomes an esper guide before finally going back to a normal sidequest guide on page 239. wtf is going on? where is the ferryman mising sidequest information. why does the "cactuar family" sidequest only have a map and no explenation whatsoever????
theres something wrong here. and i’m really getting pissed. am i gonna have to find a new copy of the strat guide? fucking brady games and their stupid mistakes. they have no updates on their site either. anyone else have this?
1.) A lot of monsters are not in their proper place in the guide. The walkthrough sections don’t list all the monsters in the section, and the bestiary doesn’t list all the monsters in the area, either.
2.) The entire second section of Henne mines is never mentioned in the guide, except in 1 of the 2 esper lists, where it mentions to talk to some guy to open the area up, then be ready for tough battles.
This has got to be the worst FF strategy guide I’ve ever read.

that’s why i’ve never bought, nor will buy a strategy guide
if there’s hidden things that would normally take hours to discover, you’re better off looking up that junk on gamefaqs…it’s free and probably more accurate than bradygames
At least you guys are noticing the mistakes and such. It helps me not buy it (yet at least).
Oh I remember a strategy guide problem, but it wasn’t Brady Games, it was the redish Final Fantasy VII guide. It was poorly glued (Yes, a glued strategy guide) where the pages attach.. A few weeks ago I (somehow) found a still-wrapped-up copy of the Final Fantasy VII guide – and I’m not opening it. 😀

yah but when it comes to sidequests gamefaq’s can take forever to finally get anything useful. gamefaq’s is only good if the game has been out for a long time already.
not only that, but PICTURES!!!! that’s why i still buy strat guides. gotta love the pictures.

but what good is it if you spend money on something only to find out that it’s missing parts or has errors?
if you want immediate results for sidequests…try the millions of forums that are just chock-full of information
why pay for something you can get for free…information should not cost anything
as for pictures…if you like pictures and DON’T want to waste your money…get the artbooks
artbook pics > strategy guide pics
also. forums take time and sometimes you can’t always get an answer…
and regarding "information" you should totally read a thread i made about information in another forum. holy shit i almost got hanged for thinking information should be free. O_o i still thing it should but holy crap does it have dogs trying to resist such an ideal. lol
isn’t there information missing from your guide though? =P
and you ARE seeing if you can find what’s missing on those pages on these forums…
but there ARE artbooks out there that have beautifully re-worked maps
trust me…it’s better to wait for good artwork than waste your money on a quick-pleaser (my friends nearly killed me when i got my hands on the Valkyrie Profile artbook)
but if i were you…i’d see if you can return it to get something that’s more complete and accurate ^^
1) Treasure chest in Lowtown, outside of Old Dalan’s place
2) When sneaking into the palace there are several chests in the Cellar. Do not open the two chests in the southeast corner.
3) All treasure chests in the Confiscatory (the place where you get your weapons and armor back after being captured)
4) In the Phon Coast, later in the game, there is an island with 16 chests all near each other. The 4th chest that must NOT be opened is among these, so it is best to leave them all alone. They only contain Gil anyway.
I buy guides just to say I have them.
As a matter of fact, since apparantly this guide has so many errors, it’d be a good thing to buy it. Why? How many games and guides actually have errors? Maybe they’ll come out with a reprint later on – thus you won’t be able to get the original unless you go on ebay. Think about that one 🙂

go buy more BradyGames and Prima’s guides…there’s errors in just about all of them
but for some reason…i think that even though some say the get them for the sake of having them…they really need them to complete a piss-easy game like this
that’s what makes me play games twice…otherwise i’d just rent all my games =P
