ive heard theres going to be a sequal to ff12 on the nintendo ds called final fantasy XII: revenant wings. ive seen 3 screenshots of the cutscenes and they look stunning… even better than the ps1 cutscenes.

anyone know when this is going to be coming out, and whether it’ll be released in the PAL territories??

also is there a release date for ff12 on the ps2 yet??
i need new final fantasy like a fish needs water!!!

one more thing…from what ive heard the storyline sounds almost identical to skies of arcadia (except the moonstones part) theres even a place called arcadia in ff12. how similar is it??

From what I’ve seen it’ll be enough to buy a DS for. I definatly will. Still don’t know why they haven’t done much with the PSP though…

That’s concept art, not cutscenes. Also, the DS is more powerful than the PlayStation 1 (just look at the graphics of Final Fantasy III DS) so it stands to reason that if there are cutscenes (doubtful, because of the limitations of DS Card space) would look better.

It will definitely be released in PAL, but like all Square Enix games, will probably be a few months after the NTSC/US release. However, remember that the Nintendo DS is region free, so it’s painless to order via an importer like Play Asia (http://www.play-asia.com).

Tentatively, March 2007. This isn’t confirmed, at it seems awfully quick (only 4 months after the US release, as opposed to the 6-9 months it usually takes), but considering that the PS2 is reaching the end of its stretch, I assume they’re rushing translation for non-English speaking PAL nations.

cool, thanks for the info.
i wouldnt be surprised if they brought the PAL version out soon, the ps3 is out in march so they arent really gonna want to release a ps2 game just after people have just spent their life savings on a ps3. then again, the ps3 is backwards compatible for ps1+2 games so you never know.

there are prerendered cutscenes in metroid prime hunters on the ds but tbh ive not really played the single player much so i dont know how many they managed to fit in it.

the ds has a 33mhz and a 67mhz processor as opposed to the ps1 having just a 33mhz processor.
also the ds cards hold up to 1GB of data compared to 683mb for a ps1 disk.
so its definately not out of the question to have cutscenes.

i had the same feeling about cutscenes like that for ffIII. how can they make it fit? it’s like the old n64 problems. simple lack of space. but then i thought maybe since it’s a smaller screen, maybe they use tiny resolutions? :p

but n64 carts were limited to 32 megabytes, the bigger the carts were, the more expensive there were to make.
I’m not sure if the same applies to ds cards, but they’re surely cheaper to make than n64 carts. It’s hard to say how they compare to manufacturing dvds.

I couldn’t wait any longer and got myself a us copy of ff12 and a swap magic 🙂 top game so far if a little different from what i was expecting.
