we should really try to assemble these and hopefully get more people active in ripping stuff.

I know how to rip PC game stuff and convert emulated formats (nsf, psf, etc) but that’s about all I’ve ever done. I could write those up, if no one else is willing to.

as for the other stuff, it’d be really neat if people could write up tutorials ’cause I’m clueless and can’t really help there.

I do mine the old fashion way (Audio jacks into the Line-In port) with the program Harddisk Ogg (http://www.fridgesoft.de/harddiskogg.php) to record the music into WAV files and Audacity (http://audacity.sourceforge.net/) to edit/convert them into MP3 files.

You can also rip music using PSound which works for both PS1 and PS2 games. I’ve also heard about ripping from GameCube/XBox ISOs, but I’ve yet to see a tutorial about doing that.

Note: Harddisk Ogg can record sounds from the PC itself, just remember to turn off the clicking noise from your mouse if your PC makes that sound. That’s how I got the GunZ rip done 😉

I heard about some way to use PSO and a broadband adapter on the GameCube to copy a game onto a computer. From there its simply a matter of finding the music files and converting them. As I have all of the necessary components, I’ll see if I can try that out today.

My personal advice: If you want to rip a PC game soundtrack. Look in the game directory first if you can find the "music" directory (or similar). The tracks are usually in a weird format or all in a single file that only the game itself can read. However, some games (like Neverwinter Nights), the tracks are mp3 files with a random format name. So just copy one of these track, change the extension to mp3 and try to read it with a player.

It’s a basic trick but you can same much time if it’s working 🙂

there’s a better way to do this. use nova software extractor. it’ll search the entire game/iso/directory for files, even if they’re embedded within other files.

prty handy.

Experience speaking 🙂

Do you have any other useful software that could directly convert my miniusf files to mp3 files? The only way I actually know is by "recording" them to mp3 files with an audio software.

Thx

I’m pretty sure that’s how everyone converts emulated formats.
