The quality is great for a Genesis/MegaDrive game. I loved playing this game a lot back in the days before I even heard of Puyo Puyo.
You should be proud of this rip! Great start for a ripper.

I’m not sure if it’s the same or not. The first Puyo Puyo game is one of the Puyo games I have yet to play. :-\
Although, I did notice a lot of the tunes from Mean Bean show themselves in other Puyo Puyo games (like the Exercise theme, for example, is used a lot), and vice versa.
