Did anyone like this feature of FF10?

I think it’s an underrated feature, as it promotes the use of tactics during battle as opposed to mindless slashing and hacking which is effective in other Final Fantasy games much of the time.

Also I thought that the ability to substitute characters during battle was a good addition.

While I preferred the more fluid, realistic system implemented in the sequel FFX-2, I think the CTB was an improvement on the ATB system used in previous versions.

Uhhh, no. It just let you see whether you had the time to attack before the enemy did. It just allowed the player to battle without the need to anticipate the enemy’s next turn. And plus, to use the "new" system, the game had to be turn based, which wrecked everything. A game with predecessors that had time based battles should at least implement the ATB system or better. X’s battle system was a huge step in the wrong direction in my opinion.

well since i never played some games till now again i must say ok
now in compare with another games FFX is pretty cool with TBBS
(turn based battle system) when you wait for think more and so
enemies were waiting for your turn and fight rise when they are
strong and fast but i never see double action for anyone in TBBS
i mean give to command continuously and actions 2 turn be your T
turn i think agility is important in this battles…

I actually prefer FFX’s gameplay than other gameplays of other Final Fantasies. It allows me to carefully plan my characters’ next move against the enemies. ^^

I agree w/ Yui, I love the system and i’m hoping that x-12 will have the same thing or alteast a way to change it so you don’t have to deal with it if you don’t want to.

Has a lot of tactical benefits to it, but can make a battle WAY too easy. A bit of a tactician can plan ahead so easily that the foe doesn’t have a chance. The ATB was much more active and surprising, and could really hammer you, or your foes at times.

That’s why I like it. Tactics should be the way to win battles imo, not simply attacking and healing, nothing else. On a real battlefield, you wouldn’t win just by holding down the X button as is sort of the case in FFX-2. You would need some sort of tactics. Although the FFX-2 system had its good points, as it was very aesthetically pleasing and free flowing.
