chocobo racing problem

After you beat Dyne in the Corel prison and get sent up to the Gold saucer to race,
as soon as the race is suppose to start my computer freezes and i have to shut off the game:-( .
the elevator ride and everything else works but as soon as the music starts again for the race it freezes.
I don’t no what the problem is but does it have to do with the chocobo.lgp file thats in the minigame folder? please get back to me soon

Even though I play on PS1 I might have an idea of how to help. I get silly little bugs on my PC all the time. I usually create a backup of the save and stick it on a disc or in a seperate folder, out of the FF7 folder. Then re-install the game, place the save back and it works.
Whenever a game goes wrong for a weird little reason like animations not found, I do this trick so they will be found (usually).

Are you running windows XP?

If so there is a known bug with FF7 and Windows XP

Just google for it or go to the eidos support site and download the chocobo fix. That should fix the crashing with the race.

Edit: just forgot, you can also google Final Fantasy 7 Xp, and get the FF7 XP patch. That should work as well.
