ok well I havent downloaded any patches for my ffvii pc yet(Im running it on XP) but Im about to soon (Ive only played 7 hours worth so far) , and I was just wondering if I have to restart my game all over again!

So mainly Im asking is

a) would I have to restart my game and reinstall FFVII
b) which patch should I get since I know theres so many of them out there
c) and any other extra info I should know about FFVII pc

thanks you guys! ^_______^

a) Basically, no, you don’t. Unless you decide to delete the ‘save’ folder, where your save files are kept (you can safely copy this folder and it’s contents to another folder to back them up too). The patches jsut change the ff7.exe file and a couple of other files. They don’t touch the save files in any way.
b) Go to www.qhimm.com and scroll down the main page. Basically the two pathces you really need to worry about, are the Chocobo patch, and the v1.02 patch.

Only the Chocobo patch is essential for running the game under Windows XP, as the game WILL crash at the Chocobo Races at Gold Saucer, without fail. Every single time. Installing the Chocobo Patch will fix the bug that cuases this annoying glitch. The v1.02 patch is an optional update though that updates the compatiablity of the game with later video cards (and improves the graphics a little when running under a high resolution montitor) It isn’t essential to play the game under XP though. It replaces the ff7Config.exe file with an updated version, as well as a couple of other files too.

Just make sure you DON’T get confused with the Animevamp ‘patch’, as this is actually nasty malware that screws around with the MIDI drivers on your PC. Whatever you do, do not install this one. Just ignore it if you happen to come across it.

c) If you have any other problems, check Qhimm’s forum at the above link, as they’ll probably have an answer, as they’re probably the main resource for FFVII (and FFVIII) PC.

Hi, I’m playing FFVII PC and got a crash at Barret’s past second flashback when the group reunite at Desert Prison / Gold Saucer (after Cloud’s party arrested by Dio for accused murder at the Battle Square), can the patch fix it?

Thanks,

Po
