I know we have been through this before, and people ended up that is a reference to Resident Evil. But is there a posibility to be a reference to the first Silent Hill? On the first Silent Hill, when you are at the elemntary School you have to put 2 medals near the clock in the playground.

But Resident Evil is specifically a fountain, like FF9.

And I do believe that the fountains are quite similar. Female, holding something that spouts the water?

I just recently passed that part, and I wasn’t sure if there is a medal of some sort I find to put in there for an item or weapon, etc. I never thought it may have been a Resident Evil reference.

I once thought it was a place to put the S-rank treasure hunter medal that you get near the end. I was wrong, but having never played Resident Evil I never would’ve picked up on that link (or Silent Hill).

Thanks for this.

Yeah, it’s definitely one of the more obscure references in the game. The guy who did the references guide for FFIX at GameFAQs even comments that he would never think it would be a reference if it weren’t for the fact that there absolutely and totally nothing else connected to the referenced "medal" in this game.

Actually, I’m pretty sure Zidane says the same thing in the Japanese game, too. I’ll have to go check.

I can say the same about Resident Evil 2

Aren’t Silent Hill and Resi both Capcom games? Correct me if I’m wrong, but was Silent Hill released AFTER Resi 2? Haven’t got a clue why it’s in FFIX though…

Silent Hill is made by Konami. 🙂

Kinda lame ain’t it? It’s so obvious, it would be much better if there was a huge zombie crawling out of the ground which you had to fight without any weapons, that would’ve been a lot less obvious! -.-‘

Don’t you mean, "That would have been a lot MORE obvious?"

And why would FF9’s creators want to make a joke/passing reference obvious, either way? o_O The point is to NOT make it obvious.

And this I’m typing to make it non-spam post, even thought it still will be…

That is just. . . uch.

Unless you have severe mental problems it isn’t clear that s/he is being sarcastic.

Maybe if I randomly put bold/italics/underline you will get the message
