What were going to be doing is trying to get your PSP to run emulators. That means, if you follow my instructions, you should be playing the likes of the Snes, Megadrive, Nes, Gameboy Colour and the CPS1 in no time. And with added features like a "save" option in most it really is highly enjoyable for those long time consuming games.
Ok, so here`s what you need before we start…
1)Grand Theft Auto-Liberty City Stories (We`ll use this to boot up the program needed for emulators)
2)A PSP (duh) with firmware 2.00 or even up to 2.60 installed.
—About GTA—
Rockstar has started filtering out the GTA games that can be exploited to play emulators so here`s how you find out if you GTA can support them. At first it was easy to pick out the proper version but things have gotten somewhat more complicated. Read this article (http://pspupdates.qj.net/How-to-find-a-Homebrew-Friendly-version-of-GTA-LCS-Updated/pg/49/aid/58178) to find out if your GTA can run emulators. Don`t worry, it`s straight forward enough.
—The Loader—
Here`s how you get the loader that will load up the menu that will let you choose what emulator you want to play. Go to this webpage (http://www.noobz.eu/), click on "EBOOT LOADER" on the left navigation bar, scroll down to the section called "Previous loader versions" and choose v0.96 installer. Ok, hook your PSP up to your PSP via a USB connection and double click the v0.96 installer file. Direct it to your PSP and start installing. This will install "eLoader" on your PSP. As far as i know eLoader will save over the third save data on the memory stick so make backups of all your games on your PC just to be safe. Ok, now go into PSP main folder and you should have a folder called "GAME", if not create one.
The Emulators
The PSP doesn`t use the same emulators as your PC so you need to know what your looking for. Remember, when you do download these, pop them into the "GAME" folder. Ok, here`s a list of the PSP emulators you should check out .
Gameboy colour/Game boy—"Homers Rin" (http://www.1homebrew.com/psp/homersrin.shtml) (Very fast, perfect visual and audio emulation)
NEO GEO—"Neo Geo Emu" (http://pspupdates.qj.net/NEOGEO-Emulator-for-PSP-Updated-to-v0-2-2-/pg/49/aid/58818) (I haven`t tried it yet but i will very soon)
Nintendo NES—"NesterJ" (http://pspupdates.qj.net/NesterJ-for-PSP-v1-20beta2-WiFi-Network-Play-/pg/49/aid/57754) (Runs pretty smooth now with Wifi play, sound emulation is a little weak)
Sega Master System/Game Gear—"SMS" (http://pspupdates.qj.net/SMS-PSP-V0-5/pg/49/aid/8367) (Meh, not great but pretty interesting nonetheless)
Nintendo Snes—Snes PSP (http://pspupdates.qj.net/SnesPSP-TYL-0-4-Released-UPDATED-/pg/49/aid/35325) (Fantastic visual and audio emulation, Wifi play)
Sega Megadrive—DGEN (http://pspupdates.qj.net/DGEN-for-PSP-v1-60-Unveiled/pg/49/aid/51927) (My personal favorite, great all round)
Capcom CPS1 Emulator—CPS1 (http://pspupdates.qj.net/Capcom-CPS1-Emulator-Alpha-version-released/pg/49/aid/59598) (Outstanding emulator of a rare Capcom arcade machine)
Nintendo 64—
Daedalus R6 (http://pspupdates.qj.net/Daedalus-R6-Released/pg/49/aid/59163) (A work in progress but soon to be a perfect N64 emulator)
—The ROMS (games)—
Check out RomNation (http://www.romnation.net/srv/roms.html) and RomHustler (http://romhustler.net/) for good, virus free ROMS. Now, when you download a ROM simply bring it into your "GAME" folder, into the folder of the emulator it`s for and into the "ROMS" folder, if your emulator doesn`t have one of these folders just simply make one.
—NON-ROM games—
Your PSP won`t just play ROMS. Check out some of these other homebrew games (http://pspupdates.qj.net/category/Homebrew-Games/cid/62)
—Loading up the emulator—
Ok, load up the Grand Theft Auto UMD. When it loads up go to load a different game, you should see a save game called eloader with a picture of two bottlecaps, load it up. You`ll get to a blue screen with a list of your emulators. From there simpy click on an emulator and your ready to play. But remember, most emulators can`t quit back to the PSP menu, you`ll have to take out the battery to shut it off.

NOTE-If eloader keeps auto-loading and you can`t thereby load a GTA game go into your PSP directory, go into the "SAVEDATA" take out a GTA saved game then paste it back in. This makes the savegame the mostly recently used game so it`ll load upon starting the game.
