I have an old beatup ff8 game that always freezes at the cut scene where rinoa watches edea get up and walk outside to make a speech, or right after when irvine says "Here she comes." Is there any way to fix the disk? or am I going to have to buy a new copy?

You can use a standard CD repair kit and give it a try; you can pick those up almost anywhere these days. They aren’t all that great though.

Think Curcuit City has them?

We don’t have circuit city in Australia as far as I know. But here you can find some in Woolworths… so… :-).

Thank you anyway, I’m certain they have them.

If you use one and screw up, then you’re at fault and you’ll have to buy a new copy anyway. Just go to a store like Blockbuster, Hollywood Video, etc. and ask them to do it on their professional scratch removal machine. BB only charges $1, and they never screw up. I guess it would be your choice, but if you’re only in need of fixing one disc, that’s what I’d do.

Trust Mr. Bunniesworth, that’s what I did man. Works like a charm.

dunno if this helps you but you can always skip FMVs by ejecting the cd during fmv and then put it in again.

I don’t think that works for FFVIII. I’ve only known that to work for IX.

(And this is an old thread anyway.)
