When ever I listen to Dragonforce it just sounds like one big wank-fest to me. I mean there is no denying that they’re very talented and I give them respect for that, but it just seems like that the band exists for the sole purpose of showing off what each band member can do (most of all Herman Li.)

You have poor taste then. 😛 Dragonforce had skill, yes, but their songs lack creativity and it all feels like one big guitar wankfest. If you think that a band that beats the One-trick pony to death is the best, then you really need to listen to more music and bands that had variety in their songs.

I also enjoy overly long crazy guitar solos, as long as they’re melodic and not just pure technical wanking (i.e. Yngwie.) I can listen to the solo part of Dragonforce songs, but otherwise it’s too silly for me.

As a fan of TMV, I can’t really critisize how long it is — then again TMV use other elements in their progressive style to apart from guitars, so I guess I can.

Dragonforce are talented, and I like a couple of songs, but as TK said, they spend more time writing perfect songs/insane solos and spend less time on everything else.

This is something DT is also accused of, unfortunately.

I think they are very good and their lyrics are very different. Though there is one of their songs that does deem to drag on (soldiers of the wasteland) Their guitar solos are very fast paced and long and i like that but i wonder how they can’t be tired after each gig

For the record, I like the band, it’s a good aural energy boost for when I am feeling flaccid. I just recognize how cheesy their lyrics are, repetitive their songs are and how long and pointless their guitar solos are.
