IF, Square decided to make a FFVII remake for the PS3, how would you like the characters to speak? I mean FFX’s voice synchronisation was terrible in English, can’t Square just stick with Japanese voices and English screen text?

So maybe you must read at the bottom of the screen a lot, but I have some potential solutions for this problem. There could be put in an option that let you choose if you want to let the text roll along with the dialogue, if not you can hear they speak done first, then scroll trough the text. This would grant a way more realistic feel if you ask me, and I really do think this is better than bad voice acting and/or synchronisations. So please answer with your honest opinion(s) :).

i agree with you…

other example is Genji and Onimusha 4 which the character talk in japanese while the menu and subtitle/text screen in english…

i hope SE will do like that in the next FF…

I have not played Final Fantasy X, but I would expect good voice acting from Square, like the good voice acting used for Kingdom Hearts.

Won’t it be a bit boring in Japanese? 😉

The answer to all of this is simple: don’t remake it. No need to worry about voice-overs if there isn’t a game in the first place.

well for me, i would find it too distracting to hear it in japanese and read it in english. i like it the way it is… cause in like, say movies, if its a chinese or japanese dubbed movie… it sucks cause i miss alot cause of having to constantly looking down to read, i miss what hapends to the characters… cause like say you are having to read someone talking and all of a sudden gets cut off… then you see that person clutching their arm, how would you know what happened… if its a game, you would either have to play it again, or hope that they mention it later… but with a movie its a little different cause then you can just rewind it and check what happened. but as to the original post… i would simply love it if they re-made it. i havent even seen the movie for ffVII but i REALLY want to. havent gotten the chance yet.

pre-order… I thought that they said they had no intentions of making a ff7 remake and that the video at E3 was simply a technical demo- according to OPM

Personaly I think they should use sign language or play sharades as their method of comunication.

I understand what you mean. But if they actually decide to make the improved FFVII, the characters are very most likely to speak. The graphics should be very realistic, so voice acting is probably going to be included. I too, think it would be most practical if they remained silent. But I don’t think it would look good in such realistic graphics :-\. But my solution to this problem is actually listed in the first post =):

There could be put in an option that let you choose if you want to let the text roll along with the dialogue, if not you can hear they speak done first, then scroll trough the text.
