Why doesn’t the ending with Nooj, Baralai, and Gippal in Luca load on my copy of FFX-2? There’s a small scratch about 1/4 of the way from the center of the game.

My PS2 isn’t modded, it’s not a bootleg version, yada yada.

Well, you said it, you have a scratch. It could be glitching your game. Does it just not load at all? Does it start to load and then glitch? What exactly happens specifically?

Yeah, I thought about that, but there’s only one small scratch on this one as opposed to my copy of FF8 that has probably a hundred scratches. =\

Only the text loads, nothing else. It’s just a blank screen with text overlapping itself whenever anyone says something new. So, the first line doesn’t even disappear when the next line shows up.

I’ve beaten the game 5 times, and it does this each time.

Hrm, you mentioned FFVIII, which is an original Playstation game. Have you had any similar problems with any other Playstation 2 games? I’m just trying to think of anything that could potentially be causing it.

Maybe Playstation 2 games are more sensitive to that sort of thing? Or maybe it’s in a really critical area, sometimes even if it’s only one small scratch as opposed to hundreds, that can do it if it’s in just the right place.

Erm, other standard stuff — I assume you’ve tried cleaning it, etc?

Either it may be the scratch, or you just have a buggy game. Try a friend’s copy and see if it has scratches too and play again. If that still doesn’t work, then your PS2 simply can’t read over the scratches.

Okaaaaay, old thread, obviously with what happened with the forums, I would recommend checking the date before responding.
