I just noticed this the other day, and I’m really excited about it. I found the original DS design to be too large and clunky to hold for extended periods of time. I’d like to see it redesigned in some way to make it comfortable to hold the handheld in one hand, and use the stylus in the other. As of now, you basically have to set the DS on a flat surface to get productive results with the stylus.

What kinds of innovations do you want to see in the new design? Smaller? Bigger buttons?

I don’t want a new design, because I already have one, and i’m not wasting more money to buy another one.

I should have known this would happen. SHOULD HAVE KNOWN

Nintendo’s pretty much been saying this would happen since day one.

I’ll probably get one, just because it will be sleek and sexy – and if I trade in my old DS, the price will probably be lower than $100 anyway.

Wtf?!

The original, granted may not be perfect, but it`s ok for now. I also heard a rumour that they are doing the same to the PSP. It`s too soon tbh.

The PSP redesign is more about putting an iPod-eque hard-drive in it. Which makes sense considering that Sony is pushing the media capabilites.

I’m stealing this from Sarah :-*

I think it would be pretty awesome if the DS not only played GBA SP games, but original GBA games as well.

I think smaller will do. It’s a little clunky for me right now because of my small fingers.

Already? I agree that the DS is clunky, but this seems a bit soon.

The DS has been out for at least a year now, hasn’t it? All I remember is that the PSP came out in late March of 2005, and the DS hit the shelves a few months before that. Anyways, its not too early to be talking of a redesign. If something like this does actually go down, it probably wont happen until the summer or close to the fall. So that may make it a good two years of the original DS being out before a new design comes out.
