I voted for IX — however there’s a lot to be said for VI too. IX has a great story, fun battles and strong music. But the same can be said for VI to a large degree too.
VII and VIII are really good to in my opinion — VII was the first I played and got me hooked on the series.
It’s a tossup, but I’d say IX by a nose.

I’m currently trying to decide whether to play VIII or X after i finish my current game, but since X is not on your poll, and i’m not terribly fond of VIII ( i only want to play it cos ive never completed it) i’ll say IX

I voted for VI, but in retrospect, you probably should do IX, since "again" implies you’ve already played through them both and IX has a little bit more entertaining gameplay than VI (but not as good of a story), so yeah.

I’d definitely recommend FF9 to anyone considering playing the game.
Right now I’m on disk 2 and have reached "Madain Sari". So far have absolutely loved the gameplay, characters and storyline, and am very much looking forward to completing the rest of the game =)
