What do you think of classical music?
I love it and I think that it is been rejected by society for music of a low standard.
I really dislike 50 cents, emo bands and Crazy frog, that kind of stuff just doesnt compare in my opinion. Why is it that Crazy frog and 50 cents’ songs (I could name more crappy artists.) sell more then Classical music or any good music for that matter. "Because there all old and we’ve heard them all." If you’ve heard most or all classical music/songs Ill be damn surprised seen as it has been written for around a thousand years.

Well, I think that Classical music does sell quite abit. But the reason why you wouldn’t find it in the mainstream music scene today is because unless it is given a pop twist (Charlotte Church), classical music just couldn’t fit in the mainstream, for the same reasons a band such as Godspeed You! Black Emperor (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Godspeed_You%21_Black_Emperor) wouldn’t fit in there. You couldn’t just put on a classical record on and just quickly listen to a piece, you have to sit down and appreciate it in all of it’s glory.
Anyway, I do like abit of Classical music, though I wouldn’t call myself an expert on the subject (I mostly listen to the more well known composers i.e. Holst, Beethoven, Mozart, Vivaldi.)

as for selling.. i dont really know the state of most new composers but i think dr. tchocky summed it up pretty well.. and i can buy almost all old stuff around here for like 2,5/cd and most of the times it’l even cost me less on vinyl
or even free on the internet!
Beethoven! (http://www.pas.rochester.edu/~yildirim/misc/music/beethoven/)
all 9 symphonies by the BBC Philharmonic conducted by Gianandrea Noseda
