Yojimbo Overdrive

Hey does anyone know of the specific amount of gil that you give to Yojimbo to use his Overdrive?
And is there like a specific order of giving out the gil per turn?
What do you know about this Summon manster?
(Sory if this topic has been brought up before)

Well, here’s what I know off by heart.

Yojimbo has four attacks, only really one of which is particularly useful, which is Zanmato, which if succesful kills ANY monster/boss immediately.

When you first get Yojimbo, you can haggle with his original asking price down to 203,000gil ish.

Second, he asks you why you need him. Answering "To defeat the most powerful of enemies" increases the chances of Yojimbo doing Zanmato (against powerful enemies, obviously).

I think the probablity of him doing Zanmato otherwise, is sort of semi-randomised. His motivation increases if you pay him more, but my friend has paid him around 40,000 gil and he has killed Dark Valefor using Zanmato.

To be sure, and if you want him to use Zanmato, pay him at least 200,000 gil. The best qay to get this amount of gil (and more), is from the mimics on Omega Ruins, which give away 50,000 (I think), so mix that with Gillionaire, and you get 100,000 gil per battle.

The chances of Zanmato being used also depend of your opponents Zanmato level which ranges form 1 to 4. Weaker enemies have a less Zanmato level (1), while more powerful enemies/bosses have higher Zanmato resistance (4). Therefore, the chances of Yojimbo doing Zanmato are potentially less when you pay him against say, Dark Bahamut, than an Evil Eye.

Lastly, from what I know: If you really need Yojimbo to use Zanmato, and he doesn’t, you can re-load saved games repeatedly and chances are, he’ll do it eventually.

Yeah…when Yojimbo’s overdrive bar is full, he always seems to use Zanmato for me.

I played FFX for about 150 hours and no matter how mush i paid him he never used Zanmato

No i’m not saying that. He used Zanmato quite a lot for me but he didnt always use Zanmato when his overdrive was full.

yeah how much have been payin him, if he uses it every time i suggest u go find a dark aeon to test him

i paid him the amount that the online FAQ told me to, where you haggle a bit.

i pay him anything and he does it, from 1 gil to whatever. i tried paying him everything i had once to try and make him do something else (about 200,000 gil), and he still did the Odin style attack.

it’s actually pretty boring.

hope it works on Yunalesca though (can’t find a dark Aeon, becasue i’m not that far into the game yet, in fact, i’ve kinda gone off it, not played it for a good 8 or 9 weeks now).

Overdrive adds 2 to motivation, doesn’t increase your chances of a zanmato all that much.

Well I could never get him to do it, about 1 in every 30 times.

I don’t even have enough money to get him yet.

Yojimbo has NEVER used Zanmato for me. Not that i’d need it, as I am totally awesome at everything I do.

I’ve never seen that douche bag do Zanmato once, I payed him 100,000 gil and he sent out his dog, good thing it was just Braska’s final Aeon.

It`s crap looking, just a single slash but it kills anything.

I don’t know about you guys, but I paid him all my money and he kozuka’d(that even a word?) Yunalesca, and he never performed me Zanmato, though I give him 1 gil and he does Wakizashi =D anywho, the idiot nearly took all my gil.

I always just paid Yojimbo 100 Gil and each of his attacks did 9,999 Damage anyways.

i’ve played for about 230 hours and he only used it like half the time!

ye man i do all u hav to do is either pay him ,1024 or 128 , but 128 duzn work that gud , by the way if u make him use his dog hes respect for u goes down by 100% so gud luck bro.

jojimbo uses zanmato everytym only if hes respect is up for use , or wen u summon him he wud automatically do wakizashi if he duznt it means that uve been making him use his dog , so u hav to start all over with him .

For a start lol there are 5 Zanmato levels and in the fifth level there are monster such as the dark aeons i think and omega? I hardly never use him in battles and against things like dark valefor i grand summon him and pay him 150000 gil and he 99% of the time uses Zamato,

That was 150k. And if you want to just waste money in battle just use Rikku’s throw gil throw 10k and she does 9,999 damage get her celestial weapon pay 100k and she does 99,999 damage, cheapr and more reliable.

No if u chuck 10k she does 999 damage

many people said, that yojimbo had this respect level that you will need to increase. if it’s reach level 4, he’ll use zanmato whenever you paid him from 4096 – 8191.and make sure his overdrive bar is full. it never happen to though coz i never knew when till the respect level reach level 4

I use 1756gil every time and he uses Zanmato about 80% of those times.. The other 20% is full of Wakisashis (sp) ^_^ Yayerz.
