FF2 Dark Elf, metals too heavy. Help?

How do I defeat the Dark Elf after I fly into the cave with a black chocobo? Do I have to strip everyone down? He hits for 9999 and I die. Thanks!

First off, there’s no way that you should even get to the point of him hitting you for 9,999 damage. You pretty much have to take off all armor and weapons. If a character is equipped with a metallic object of any kind, he/she will be restricted from fighting in battle. In this case, Yang and Tellah are going to be your only useful allies.

But make sure you talk to Edward first before you get to the Dark Elf. He will give you an instrument that is vital to the defeat of the beast.

Now… heh… I had no troubles when this game came out… but now… geezus… where do I go to use the key to go to the underground after getting Kain and Rosa back? So sad, I know I am. : )

I don’t remember if the town had a name or not, but near the Tower of Babil, fly a little northeast. There will be an island, a huge mountain, and a small village. Enter said village, go to the middle of it, and go through the door. You’ll come out on the other side to a well, and you must drop the key down it. Then the mountain will give way, and you can enter the Underground.
